Dave is from Indiana actually.
BTW: Glamorizing redneck culture is like glamorizing ghetto culture. Just as shopping at Whole Foods and listening to NPR doesn't make you superior status-wise, nor does chewing tobacco and living like a slob make you morally superior.
Is there a place in the world for us folks who are neither latte-sipping pretentious poseurs OR slovenly rednecks? Methinks whoever runs for President needs to address the wide swathe of the population that is neither.
Competance and substance beat smarminess and/or style anyday of the week. Dave doesn't have the former (and never will), and Sarah still needs to prove she has it. Populist idiocy doesn't make you Nixon or Reagan, it makes you William Jennings Bryant.
He really said all that stuff about Palin? It’s amazing he’d show his contempt for stewardesses and waitresses, etc. As I read that I was thinking, “What makes him think these people he’s comparing her to are so contemptible as to make these comparisons hurt Palin? What’s wrong with the woman who puts a smiley face on your check?”
Note to all waitresses and other common people who have the displeasure of serving Letterman: He thinks you’re far beneath him and being nice to him is a waste of your energy.
What must be done is to let the network know that we are calling the sponsors of the show to tell them that we are boycotting their products until such time as they pull sponsorship from a show that will allow such a man on the air. In short, boycott all products that sponsor Letterman, and boycott the show.
Johnny was a comedian to be sure, but he was also a gentleman with class.
Dave Letterman - NOT!
Since I’ve stopped watching TV I’ve noticed that the masses are trained to think stuff is funny. They hear some trash and start comparing it to all the other trash they’ve heard over the years, the little “laugh” light goes off in their brain, and they laugh.
Sarah’s great—but not tall.
I have deleted CBS from my TV. It is no longer one of the recognized pre=programmed channels. I told CBS, and I hope other Freepers will do the same.
There really aren’t as many slovenly rednecks as you suppose.
Does David Letterman live in Indiana now? New York you say? Is New York a big city?
I don’t think it’s possible to be a modern Liberal if you’re not a hypocrite.
This is why NBC’s decision to go with Jay Leno to host the Tonight Show back in ‘92 looks so amazingly wise now, in retrospect.
Jay Leno spent the following 16 years kicking Letterman’s smarmy ass night after night after night. The number of times Letterman’s overnight numbers exceeded Leno’s, you can count on the fingers of your hands and probably have fingers left over.
Jay Leno = Class Act
David Letterman = No Class Loser & Perv
Hi everbody...did you hear the one about my wife, "She's a SLUT and my son's a BASTARD." he, he, he
Top 10 men who might knock up Sasha and Malia Obama. Or give Letterman's young son an STD.
BTTT
because he’s been trashing someone else’s Mom...
The fact is that glamorizing prole/lumpenprole culture, which was once the province of the left, is not a good thing. The key to a GOP victory is to reach those suburbanites who have been abandoning the GOP in droves due to incompetance and reputation as a rural party, but who are turned off by Obama's economic leftism. In short: If Sarah runs as Minnie Pearl, she loses.
I don’t think so either
“I am still waiting for Todd to kick his a$$!”
Todd could do it, or Sarah could do it, or Britol could, and SHOULD do it, and it Willow gets in there poor Dave doesn’t stand a chance. Piper could probably do some serious damage.
When Track gets back from Iraq, LOOK OUT!
I wonder if he’s going to tell his son about the “ho” that he, himself, knocked up... Oops! That would be Dave’s son’s mother... Probably not...
