An Arizona Department of Public Safety officer and Tucson resident was killed in a plane crash in Nebraska Thursday.
Officer Allen Peterson, 51, was piloting the aircraft when it crashed in Arthur County. The cause is under investigation.
The crash was reported at 4 p.m. after a property owner discovered the wreckage and called the Arthur County Sheriffs Office.
Peterson was the sole occupant of the plane, according to the Nebraska State Patrol. He was visiting family in Minnesota and was returning to Arizona at the time. Officer Allen Peterson served the department and the citizens of Arizona with dignity and honor, said Lt. Daniel Lugo, commander of the DPS Highway Patrol Bureau District Eight. Allen will be remembered by all of his peers as a selfless hero with a passion for flying and helping others. He will be missed but not forgotten. Peterson was a 24-year veteran of DPS.
The National Transportation Safety Board and Federal Aviation Administration will conduct the crash investigation.
May God bless his family.

Thought would like to know.
Second entry on that page.
Of course we would. God rest his soul and God give his family
the strength and comfort they will need to get through the
rest of life without this wonderful man in it.
RIP Officer Peterson, Thank you for your service.
So he was flying the Dragon Fly, small jet trainer or the R22 Helicopter?
Sad news Sandy.
RIP Officer Allen Peterson & prayers to his family as well as all who knew & loved him.
