Riots Continue Over Iranian Election, Obama Closely Monitoring (Hillary! Speaks)

Washington, DC (AHN) - Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad hailed the election results that showed him winning reelection by more than 62 percent of the vote.

But supporters of his opponent Mir Hossein Moussavi continue to flood the streets and violently clash with police dressed in riot gear. They believe the election was rigged. News reports say a crowd of protesters has reached Tehran's Moseni Square, and people have begun to break into store fronts, starting fires and tearing down signs.

Supporters of Ahmadinejad and Moussavi may be involved in the riots also.

Moussavi and his supporters said before the votes were counted that the process had been tainted and he urged a stop to the counting because of what he called "blatant violations." He said the results were from untrustworthy monitors.

"The results announced for the 10th presidential elections are astonishing. People who stood in long lines and knew well who they voted for were utterly surprised by the magicians working at the television and radio broadcasting," Moussavi said in a statement.

The amount of votes Ahmadinejad received is what is making observers worldwide suspicious of the outcome. Ahmadinejad is popular in rural areas, but Moussavi was expected to do well, if not win. But Ahmadinejad has the backing of the country's powerful religious leader, Ayatollah Khameni and his mullahs, who could be willing to go to great lengths not to let Moussavi take office because of his reform-minded views.

Iran's Interior Minister Seyed Sadeq Mahsouli said 85 percent of the county's 46 million eligible voters turned out to vote Friday.

The Obama administration is closely watching the elections.

"We obviously hope the outcome reflects the genuine will and desire of the Iranian people," Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton told reporters while visiting Niagara Falls Saturday.

The other 15% must have been the folks helping to rig the election. Even thugs need a break from thugery. They also knew they would be fighting the good fight today.

The best part is how anyone in the world thought this was going to be remotely fair. We all need to look at this as a show put on to entertain the rest of the world. This way your head won’t explode.

The Obama administration is closely watching the elections.

I keep hearing this inane comment.

Just what is the Obama administration going to do? Tell the Mullahs: Sorry, we think your election was a scam and we refuse to recognize the results?

or......We're sending Jimmah Carter over the straighten your election mess out ?

I would hope the Obama administration is closely watching the internal reaction to the election

Was not Jimmy Carter over there monitoring the elections to make sure they were not rigged, or any thing improper going on?

Not another “closely monitoring” statement. Does this guy ever do anything besides beat his gums and monitor things?

If Mir Hossein Moussavi gets roughed up and his supporters learn about it, all Hell will break loose!

Yeah....that goes right up there with his ‘greatly disturbed’ issue from the WH.

I’m sure he has a list of ‘two-worders’ in his Blackberry at all times for such occasions.

Madam Secretary, there is a missile heading over the Pacific that looks like it’s aimed at our coast.

We are monitoring it closely.

Oh, good.

It sounds as though that is already happening.

I might be inclined to support her.

Obama Closely Monitoring (Hillary! Speaks)

With every day's passing, the World sees how incompetent and irrelevant the US administration truly is.
