U.S. Persian Gulf forces cautioned on Iran

WASHINGTON (CNN) — U.S. military commanders in the Middle East have been sent a highly classified message reminding American forces to maintain discipline and prudence if they encounter any Iranian military or security forces during potential unrest surrounding Iran’s presidential election, CNN has learned.

This so far is the only acknowledged U.S. military reaction to the unfolding situation in Iran.

Two U.S. defense officials with direct knowledge of the message confirmed the details to CNN but said the issue is so sensitive that they could not divulge whose signature was on the message. It was distributed via secure communications in recent days. The officials talked with CNN on condition they not be identified.

Both underscored that the message is not an indication U.S. forces are at any higher state of alert. But the U.S. military is extremely concerned, they said, that given unrest in Iran, any encounter between U.S. and Iranian units could inadvertently escalate.

The two DOD officials described a “highly classified” message to CNN. But it is OK because CNN didn’t reveal their names. If they get tired of working as bureaucrats they can surely get jobs with the New York Times.

[The second official said there is also great concern that Iran not misunderstand this message calling for restraint, and think the United States is lowering its guard.]

Say what? If the message is classified how could there be “great concern that Iran not misunderstand this message”?

Maybe this could be the chaos that I’m a Nut Job has been hoping\working for. I get the ugly feeling that this may all be planned. These are the people who invented chess. Scrutinize everything they say and do.

What’s this? Pres. Hussein sent secret orders to our navy that if they encounter Iranian vessels they are to offer to do analingus to the Persian crew?

How disgusting! Barack Hussein Obama is worse than Neville Chamberlain.

It makes good sense to put military Commanders in the area on some level of alert, but I am more concerned about them having vague or overly restrictive Rules of Engagement imposed on them; especially with the knowledge that those ROE were likely composed by someone like David Axelrod...

There are just too many ways for this all to go to $hit in one big hurry, and I just don’t have any warm fuzzies about much concerning either Iran or North Korea ending well.
