MIAMI (June 14) - Authorities say a teenager has been arrested and accused of committing a series of cat mutilation deaths in his Miami area community.

Most psychopaths showed a cruelty to animals in their youth.
It’s a good thing he’s been arrested, before he moved on to mutilating people.

He’s 18, he’s an adult. Try him as such. Of course what always happens is that they never give the maximum penalty possible, in fact he’ll probably get a very light sentence when it’s all over. Always happens and it’s just sick. It’s only a matter of time before he starts going after people.
This is not killing animals for nuisance, self-defense or overpopulation. The guy derives pleasure and a rush from torturing and killing a living thing. Pretty soon it won’t be enough for it to be an animal. court will underestimate, defense will say ‘good boy, first time, he’s sorry (he got caught), slap on wrist, free to go.

In fact, there are only THREE common threads to serial killers; bed wetters, fire starters and killing/torturing animals.

Nope, not this time. He's in Florida and will be tried as an adult. The AG here is pushing for the max and may well get it.

Always gets plead down. Always. The case where the kids doused lighter fluid on a rabbits’ ears and lit them on fire, the case of lucky bunny who had explosives taped to her and lit and thrown into a lake - videotaped - all these kinds of cases get plead down evne with overwhelming evidence AND people sending letters to the DAs to go for the max. Even if DA does sentences may not be handed out to the max.
If it doesn’t I will be extremely (and happily) surprised.

Any plea that doesn't include a lengthy probationary period along with intense psychological evaluation, treatment and perhaps even medication, is a mistake.
As others have pointed out, the torturing and mutilation of animals is symptomatic of much larger, and more dangerous personality disorders.
I’d like to see where he’s smirking from after he meets Weird Harold, Big Bubba, and Dirty Leon. Tender white boys like him tend to get a lot of entertainment in the slammer.
I’m thinking that arrogant smirk will be gone when he becomes someone’s blushing prison bride.
