Violent movies or even violent parents may be the root causes. For instance, if you were a kid, and your dad forced you to watch him torture and mutilate your beloved pet dog, cat, bird, mouse, rabbit etc. get to death in front of your eyes, what would you have done after that?

Yes. Although movies is a little late. This has been going on since early TV time. Freaky. The scary thing is you can’t tell anything by looking at them. Thank God my kid is almost grown.
