Florida Police Fatally Shoot Man in His Bedroom (Administrative leave!!!!)

Police were called early Sunday to the home Manuel Salvador Morales Jr. shared with his parents because relatives said Morales was threatening himself with knives. Police spokesman Tom Nichols says two officers confronted Morales, who was armed and failed to comply with their commands. No additional details about the confrontation or how Morales was armed were released.

Nichols says Officer Albert Riccardi fired two shots at Morales, who was hit twice in the torso and pronounced dead at a hospital.

First of all, his relatives called the police, so *they* were scared.

They called the cops so they would stop him from killing himself! There is nothing in the article indicating he threated anyone but himself. Infact other than getting shot there is no indication he even threated the cops. Unless he had a knife to his mom's throat when they got there the cops made a bad call.

Ok, so let me get this straight, please someone correct me if I'm wrong.

A guy has a knife and is threatening himself, I would take that to mean he was saying he was going to kill himself.

The police are called in the mistaken belief they will help the guy. The guy refuses to put down his knife and is then promptly killed by the cops, therefore eliminating the need for him to commit suicide.

Is that about it?

Bottom line: don't call the cops to help you, they will only shoot your dog or you, depending on whether or not you actually have a dog.

Schizophrenia and alcohol, they do not mix well. He could have been in a pychosis. I’m not always convinced that mental health diagnosis’s are correct. They put them on drugs instead of investigating other causes first. He could have had something going on that caused schizophrenic like symptoms. Regardless, if he was acting like that one guy on PCP for example, who armed with a machete. Didn’t the police shoot him too? He was on pcp I believe.

I wonder why they didn’t tazer this guy instead...
