On the other hand, we could abandon that and simply be the party of fiscal conservatism, but after the several years, we look about as fiscally responsible as your average 15 year old.

Or we could be the party of fiscal conservatism and individual liberty. You know, freedom from government and all that good stuff.

Economies are based on trust. And how you can trust somebody that breaks the most importants promise he makes in his entire life. The two cannot be separated.

We know liberals can't be trusted, but I am beginning to think maybe not many conservatives can be trusted either. If, as you say, economies are based on trust, I guess that may explain a lot. Given that, perhaps we would all be better off not making promises that we cannot, or do not intend, to keep.

Sorry if I'm getting a little cynical.
