McCartney and Yoko push 'meat-free Mondays'

LONDON (AFP) — Beatles legend and famous vegetarian Paul McCartney was joined by John Lennon's widow Yoko Ono Monday to launch an appeal for "meat-free Mondays."

McCartney said going vegetarian, even for just one day a week, was good for the environment because of research suggesting it cuts greenhouse gas emissions from the world's livestock population.

"I thought this was a great idea. To just reduce your meat intake maybe by one day a week and this would seriously benefit the planet," he told reporters, alongside Ono and a bevy of other stars including Kelly Osbourne and Moby.

Lennon's widow -- famously blamed for splitting up the Beatles, but clearly reconciled and on good terms with McCartney now -- added: "Give up one day and then it will be two days maybe. It's a very, very intelligent idea."

In a video on his website, McCartney noted that the campaign had already been launched in the United States and Australia.

"It?s kind of easy to do. You?ve had too much over the weekend anyway and you?re all running down to the gym to try and work it off so just have a meat-free Monday," he said.

Why would an animal-rights activist team up with a woman who produced music that sounded like a cat being hit by a suitcase?
(I think it was Joe Bob Briggs who came up with that observation.)

Now go away you morons. You are has-beens.

How can you say that, they were hanging out with "...a bevy of other stars including Kelly Osbourne and Moby."

You know that you've hit the big time if you're hanging out with Kelly Osbourne!

So we all go vegetarian and the gas comes out our asses instead of a cow’s ass.

Where’s the savings? (there’s 6 billion of us)

Take care of yourselves Paul and Yoko. Stay out of my kitchen and bathroom.

Vegetarian gas is more heinous than carnivore gas. I know from experience. I still have nightmares about it...
