Rooms can be reserved for our negotiated convention rate of $116/night for single or double occupancy. The discounted group rate is available for convention attendees anytime during the period of September 7 through September 14.

Convention Admission
For each admission ticket you wish to purchase, you must enter a real name. You may also include a screen name or nick name that you would like to have printed on your name tag and your home state. Picture IDs will be required of adults at check-in.
The price of admission is $175 per person. The admission price is for the convention only. It does not include lodging. See info regarding room rates at the Sheraton.
Tickets are available through Free Republic’s Secure Server – Credit Cards or Pay Pal accepted. https://secure.freerepublic.com/tickets/
Persons under 21 years of age will not be served alcoholic beverages. Persons under age 18 must be accompanied by a responsible adult. Tickets are non-refundable.
For each convention ticket please have the following information available:

Sorry the link to the ticket purchase form above is not an active link and that you must copy/paste it. Don’t know what happened or what I did wrong, as it was active when I posted the body of the thread.
The Convention itinerary will be coming very soon. Some details are still in the works, but our Freeper Convention events begin on the late afternoon of Friday (9/11) and end on the late afternoon of Sunday (9/13). :)
Going to have to talk to hubby but will try to be there...
Stayed at this hotel a few years ago - it’s quite nice ... pretty views if you’re on the right side of the building with fairly large rooms... and was reasonably convenient to things.. :)

What activities and functions are included in the convention fee? For example, does this include local transportation from Arlington to the D.C. events?
Transportation from the Hotel to the Metro station will be provided by the hotel. Metro tickets can be purchased on line and in advance with great rates for the entire day of travel. They also have a rate for more than 1 day for advance purchase which is economical. Those details will be posted soon.
The Convention events included in the ticket price are as follows: (more details to come later)
Friday,9/11 - Evening gathering for visit to Walter Reed to honor our military and gathering for a tribute to all 9/11 victims. Finger foods/snacks at evening tribute.
Saturday,9/12 - Breakfast gathering with speakers prior to attending days tea party events.
Saturday evening Free Republic Convention Banquet.
Sunday, 9/13 - Meeting room for Freeper workshop following Sunday brunch. (Brunch/or Breakfast cost paid by attendee.)
Ticket price also includes comps that will be provided to special guest speakers. :)

I don’t know how long a drive it would be for you to DC, but if it isn’t too long you could come for the Tea Party events during the day and also the Saturday evening Convention Banquet. However, when the banquet is over it would mean driving home in the dark. Hope the drive is not too long and that you could at least attend the banquet. :)
I am in southern VA, so it is only a couple of hours up to DC for us. I don’t mind driving in the dark, so that is not an issue. We will do our best to make it.

Post that you are driving on your Oklahoma FR Forum and perhaps other Oklahoma Freepers will join you in a caravan. You could also have another Freeper or two ride with you and share the cost. :)
What if I only want to go to the banquet? What is the cost of that?

We can not divide the ticket cost with amounts for each event. The ticket cost covers all the Convention events even if you only choose to go to the Saturday evening Convention Banquet.

Just as soon as I know who the first ten ticket buyers are who had already reserved their room, I will let everyone know. Hopefully by 7:00PM Eastern I will know the 10 Freeper names of those who will be entered in the drawing.
I will then assign a number to each that I will pull from 1 to 10 at random. I will then ask Jim to let me know the number he drew from 1-10 and the winner of the T-Shirt will be announced! Good Luck!

Well, I have airline tickets, my room at the Sheraton for two night, and I darn sure will be at the mall on Saturday. But frankly there ain’t no more money. I hope that I will be able to yak and visit with other Freepers while at the hotel.
We all will have a great time at the hotel and sure to get to visit with Freeper friends!
It is a good while between now and September, and perhaps things will work out just right for you to enjoy every Convention event! See you in DC!

Can you please keep in contact with Kristinn and Angelwood, and a ‘cc’ to me you be good, concerning the Walter Reed Friday night events. As I’m sure you know, some DC Chapter members have the evening Troop Support Rally every Friday night at the gates. It would be good to know what to expect and to provide any help.

When we get close to the Tea Party Convention weekend, we will know the approximate number of Freepers who will be arriving in DC on 9/11 in time to attend the Troop Support Rally at Walter Reed on that Friday evening.

I find this very confusing. I am prepared to go. I WANT to go. But I can only get away to attend the rally/march/whatever you want to call it.
I’ve read things here that indicate this is strictly a Freeper event. I don’t mind attending those, but I originally thought this 9/12 thing was intended to be a single, huge version of the tea parties...not just a Freeper thing.
I’ve very confused now.

The Freeper Convention activities include those listed above in post #11 which are covered by the Convention ticket.
If you can only attend the events during the day on Saturday, that is fine. We Freepers will have a banner well displayed so folks can find us! :)
