6% see US administration as pro-Israel

Only 6 percent of Jewish Israelis consider the views of American President Barack Obama's administration pro-Israel, according to a new Jerusalem Post-sponsored Smith Research poll.

The poll, which has a margin of error of 4.5%, was conducted among a representative sample of 500 Israeli Jewish adults this week, following Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu's speech in which he expressed his support for a demilitarized Palestinian state.

Another 50% of those sampled consider the policies of Obama's administration more pro-Palestinian than pro-Israeli, and 36% said the policies were neutral. The remaining 8% did not express an opinion.

Israelis' views of Obama's predecessor in the White House, George W. Bush, are nearly the opposite. According to last month's poll, 88% of Israelis considered his administration pro-Israel, 7% said Bush was neutral and just 2% labeled him pro-Palestinian.

And you’d be absolutely correct.

But then, take a look at Europe in the 1930’s.

Furthermore,I read yesterday that all but one of his "czars" are Jewish. If he didn't like Jews,he certainly wouldn't surround himself with them,it seems to me.

Don't be silly. Rahm Emanuel (and his father) are simply Romany Gypsies who became Jewish for personal reasons.

They are no different than their cronies Blagoyevich (son of a Gypsy) and Rezko (little vinyard in Romany).

Can you tell me who is a Jew? And who are these Romany Gypsies? I remember reading that they were put to death in Germany and treated very much like the Jews were.

I had always thought they were nomads of middle Europe that traveled across countries and never settled anywhere. They survived by stealing. When I was in middle school in the late forties,a Gypsy girl from somewhere in Europe was placed in my class. She was very exotic looking,very fine featured,darkish skin and brilliant,light green almond eyes.

Years later I married a man of Hungarian descent who had the same features and coloring,I asked him if he came from gypsy stock and he said "no". That's my nutshell knowledge of gypsies.

Obviously you have difficulty with metaphor, but I have to conclude your glass is half empty. The Jews have survived the most horrible persecutions, enslavement, exile, genocide, over thousands of years. The post I was responding to, referred to them as having “no instinct for survival.” I disagreed in a rhetorical way.

When the Mongols reopened the long closed Silk Road and world trade began anew, a group of refugees from India that had among them people from several castes and many jots began leaving Afghanistan for Persia, then Bulgaria, then Turkey (et al), and then the rest of the Balkans.

We call them Gypsies. Over the last 500+ years they've become even more mixed than when they first coalesced in Afghanistan.

I don't think there's a particular genetic marker for them, but there's cultural uniformity.

They were not welcome in Europe. They stayed anyway.

Since Romany is a cognate of Sanskrit, the original Aryan language (of India) the Nazis studied them considerably, but in the end they decided to destroy them.

It is a Gypsy tradition to adopt the religion of the people they live among.
