Slavery was abolished over 140 years ago.

"The language is unacceptable," said Rep. William Lacy Clay, D-Mo., "I'm a reparations man -- how else do you repair the damage?"

Oh sure. Forcing people who never owned slaves to pay money to people who never were slaves will definitely close that chapter in history and heal all racial wounds. /sarc

Or it could cause a whole slew of new racial problems.

“OR....if you get reparations, then so do I, for the mistreatment of my Irish ancestors who came to these shores, and my husband gets reparations for the bad treatment of the Cherokees and.....(ad nauseum).”

I am Jewish and Roosevelt let my relatives die in the gas chambers. Where’s my money?

My Quaker ancestors helped to smuggle salves out of the South. They (my ancestors) suffered from this act of humanity.

I want the slaves ancestors to pay me and my relatives reparations.

My Great-Great-Uncle, Franklin, died fighting for the 116th NY at the Battle of Plain Store - part of the Port Hudson campaign. He’s buried in a ditch somewhere down there now.

When do I get MY reparations?

I am happy to provide reparations for any American slave that can step forward and claim them in person.

40 acres and a mule? Well they have plenty of jackasses already, including Tom Harkin...

And I’m serious. Mr Sharpton, when can we schedule a meeting?

William Lacy Clay, D-Mo., "I'm a reparations man -- how else do you repair the damage?"

Given the low moral standards of the old Southern plantations, I'd say Clay most likely has more slaveowner ancestors than do the great majority of white Americans. So my solution is for Clay to write himself a check in behalf of his slaveowner ancestors and accept it in behalf of his slave ancestors and call it even.

Unlike many, I am perfectly willing to go along with slavery reparations.

Under this condition:

Evidently, African-Americans are approximately 15% or so (give or take) of the U.S. population.

I’m willing to hand over $ 1,000,000 per descendent, with this caveat: they have to leave the United States. They do not get to enjoy the freedoms of this country, which includes the ability to earn wealth. They must leave, free to find another country where they’ll get a better deal.

That includes the pro athletes, the rappers, the movie stars, the drug dealers, and the gang bangers. You take the million dollar check...you GO.

Sounds like an excellent way to straighten out myriad problems, starting with our metropolitan areas.

$ 45 mil is getting off cheap.

I believe that slaves SHOULD received reparations from the slave owners, and those who profited from the slavery.

So... I’m waiting... Any existing or former slaves, please come forward to received your reparations...

Oh dear, I guess there aren’t any ACTUAL former slaves still alive, nor their children... No reparations to be paid. I guess THAT’S settled...

You know... My ancestors arrived on this continent in the late 1920s and early 1930s, so they weren’t involved in the whole “slavery” thing... If I’m forced to PAY “reparations” for something that I never had anything with which to do, let alone my ancestors, I’m going to demand value for my money. I’m going to demand a slave... Yes, I think one will be sufficient.

Here ya go...

“To move forward, we cannot let ourselves be prisoners of past disagreements. I am very grateful that President Ortega — (applause) — I’m grateful that President Ortega did not blame me for things that happened when I was three months old. (Laughter.) Too often, an opportunity to build a fresh partnership of the Americas has been undermined by stale debates. And we’ve heard all these arguments before, these debates that would have us make a false choice between rigid, state-run economies or unbridled and unregulated capitalism; between blame for right-wing paramilitaries or left-wing insurgents; between sticking to inflexible policies with regard to Cuba or denying the full human rights that are owed to the Cuban people.

I didn’t come here to debate the past — I came here to deal with the future. (Applause.) I believe, as some of our previous speakers have stated, that we must learn from history, but we can’t be trapped by it. As neighbors, we have a responsibility to each other and to our citizens. And by working together, we can take important steps forward to advance prosperity and security and liberty. That is the 21st century agenda that we come together to enact. That’s the new direction that we can pursue.”

I don’t know why they think the Black Caucus is an “unlikely foe”... they are all about living large off their past grievances and have no interest in putting this behind us.

there are no slaves that are still alive (except the ones that the liberals keep tied down with cradle-to-grave Welfare. and there are no slave-holders still alive (except for the liberal politicians and the race pimps).

I think Jews should sue the African-Americans for slavery reparations.

Funny, I've thought the same thing... Something else that's hilarious is that the Egyptians have claimed that the Jews were never enslaved as depicted in The Bible, but then they have also threatened to demand the riches that the Jews "took" with them during the Exodus! Of course, that cognitive dissidence is natural to muslims, arabs, and leftists.

They need us, who never owned slaves, to accept guilt for it. They need our sanction so they can rob us blind with our permission.

The authors of the Jim Crow Laws, id est, Dumbocraps, must be made to pay for this policy.

I understand that Gitmo will be vacant and can accept these criminals. I think that a menu of waterboarding and wealth redistribution, (Kennedy Family Billions and Pelosi pennies) would be accomplished.

I personally would like to see the Party that freed the slaves and fought for equality should be compensated for their pro black behavior! the descendents of those Northern military personnel who gave their lives to free the slaves should recieve $1.01 compensation from every black who receives $1.00 compensation!

NO reparations.

TOO LATE! That horse is already out of the barn! 39 years of ACORN & CRA, Fannie & Freddie have handed 'free money' to the descendants of slaves (and slave traders) for decades!

"The language is unacceptable," said Rep. William Lacy Clay, D-Mo., "I'm a reparations man -- how else do you repair the damage?"

Thirty-plus years of affirmative action and forty-plus years of welfare checks more than settle things up,pal. And BTW,I'm of Irish ancestry. My Dad's older brother used to tell stories of looking for work in Boston and encountering signs in many windows saying "Irish need not apply".

Where are MY reparations???
