KJI doesn’t have to hit anything in particular. Just lob a nuke close enough to US soil get everyone’s attention and it satisfies NK’s goal. He doesn’t believe 0bama will do anything in response other than blow smoke, and he’s probably right. Meanwhile, KJI gets more respect.

The DEW line is still intact. Other means have been implemented since then.

Like a “fully operational battle station” or am I missing something?

“That’s how these sorry bastards operate. They are against every defense system; past, present and future; and when we need those systems, they rely on them.”

Hell, I remember them in the late 70’s early 80’s screaming about how worthless the Abrams tank was.

The DEW line is still intact. Other means have been implemented since then.

The DEW line is for aircraft, not missiles, and it is now called the North Warning System.

For launch warning we have satellites, but all they can tell, for a bit, is that there has been a launch. After that they can tell you the azimuth, but not the range. By burnout, you can get a decent estimate of the range, and thus the intended target, as a general area anyway. The acquisition radars of the defense systems would be cued by those satellites, and occassionaly other assets. But they would not pick up the target until it was well into the coast/ballistic phase of the flight. Since they measure speed directly, rather than as distance over time, they can give a much better prediction of the impact point. They would in turn cue the guidance radars. Or the defensive missiles might be launched on those cues alone, and then do their own guidance the all the way. More likely they'd at least receive mid course updates from the acqusition or even dedicated tracking radars.

That's why I suggested Midway, or just Alaska. Even the NK's should be able hit Alaska, somewhere.

I remember, too. That’s how they operate. They will use anything to further their agenda. Biting the hand that feeds them is one way. Extreme hypocrits.

That was there in May. We saw it when we visited Pearl Harbor.

I worked specifically on incoming anything. It was a TAC radar that worked on anything within 300 mi. As a detector of a missile or aircraft the best you could do is run away.

(BTW our Squadron was wiped out in 1951 and the AF had the courage to bring it back.)

The Taepo Dong is evidently perfectly capable of hitting Alaska’s Aleutians, assuming it gets off the ground.

Absolutely NO THANKS to the Rat party which has been fighting missile defense tooth and nail since Reagan. I will vomit if we use this system to defend Hawaii, and then the Rats rear up and brag and claim credit.

You would think that this would result in increased funding for the Missile Defense program (which Obama had planned to cut). We’ll see. If we don’t have the stones to take out the NK nuclear capability, then Missile Defense becomes a necessity rather than an option. Of course, the Dems are in charge right now, so common sense is optional.

It seems to me that a conventional explosive cruise missile, aimed into Kim Jong Il’s bedroom would have more permanent effect. These have already been tested in combat. I'm sure, however, The One does not have the cojones to exploit this technology.

Is Obama still calling for an end to missile defense or has he let that drop for the time being because he knows full well that the American people are not in favor of it?

Haven’t heard him talking about it since NK started firing off nuclear weapons and missiles.

“Right..and it would be an overt act of war.
The Alaska National Guard CIC is Gov. Sarah
Palin. I bet she's getting some regular high
level security briefings.”

Remember all the crap and how the Libs mocked her for being able to see Russia from her front door? Truth of the matter is-they are on the front lines up there. Shame on those Lib idiots that mocked her and Alaska's safety. May they spill their latte in their laps on the way to an important business meeting.;)

Ditto! God bless Sarah. We (and the Rats) may see this statement come to surprising reality.

“The Lord works in strange ways.”
