TEHRAN: The daughter of Iran's former president Akbar Hashemi-Rafsanjani and four relatives were arrested over their involvement in protests against alleged election fraud in Iran, the Fars news agency reported on Sunday.

Faezeh Hashemi, a renowned women's rights activist, former parliament deputy and head of women sports in Iran, has in the recent years emerged, like her father, as one of the main opponents of President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad.

Ahmadinejad had before the June 12 election accused Rafsanjani and his children of corruption.

Fars said that Faezeh, her daughter and three other relatives were arrested during Saturday's

Events are happening as described in this article....FR Thread from last week:

Iran: There Will Be Blood

*************************************EXCERPT INTRO************************************

My contact predicted serious violence at the highest levels. He said that Ahmadinejad is now genuinely scared of Iranian society and of Mousavi and Rafsanjani. The level of tension between them has gone beyond civil limits -- and my contact said that Ahmadinejad will try to have them imprisoned and killed.

Likewise, he said, Rafsanjani, Khatami, and Mousavi know this -- and thus are using all of the instruments at their control within Iran's government apparatus to fight back -- but given Khamenei's embrace of Ahmadinejad's actions in the election and victory, there is no recourse but to try and remove Khamenei. Some suggest that Rafsanjani will count votes to see if there is a way to formally dislodge Khamenei -- but this source I met said that all of these political giants have resources at their disposal to "do away with" those that get in the way.

He predicted that the so-called reformist camp -- who are not exactly humanists in the Western liberal sense -- may try and animate efforts to decapitate the regime and "do away with" Ahmadinejad and even the Supreme Leader himself.

I am not convinced that this source "knows" these things will definitely happen but am convinced of his credentials and impressed with the seriousness of the discussion we had and his own concern that there may be political killing sprees ahead.

This is not a vision he advocates -- but one he fears.

mousavi was only slightly less mullah-ish than the other guy (isnt he the father of the irani nuclear program?) ... the mullahs would never allow there to be a real choice, though i believe under the circumstances that mousavi is a LOT more pro-democracy now than he was a week ago... youre right, he’s just a catalyst and now he is caught up in it with no choice beyond victory or death at the hands of the mullahs

Mullah on mullah. Regime vs. Rafsanjani. This is a huge deal; means the Islamic leadership is factioning out. Let ‘em eat their own. A divided house can’t stand.

All this in-fighting must be a big relief for Isreal which has been the subject of President Nutjob’s desire to want to nuke it.

I'm basically shot since working till 11PM last night only to have to come in for a morning shift and walk a few miles of hard concrete and lay under shelves pulling tons of ripped apart boxes of lighting etc., out repack, retape, roll around in the dirty floor and dust etc.. Gotta report back to Hells Gates in the morning. So I probably will try to catch up tomorrow on all of todays pings etc..
Work work work. Would be better to be super healthy, super rich laying around smoking cigars and cigs, and pumping down cold beers under some palm trees. Typing away on a laptop while some young good looking women fanned me and asked me if I need some cold brew refills, whatever.
I am a little aware of todays happenings as I just gloss through the many pings and threads. Tomorrow and day after I hope to get back into the swing of things.

"I suspect this will lead to more anger and a bigger divide in Iran. Strikes and sabotage may come next."
Sure looks like that is the path that will follow.

One thing is for certain. We have to segregate the number of issues each apposing candidate and those that have put their feet into the fire, represent within the over all chaotic state.
Each may have totally different ideas as to what they would like to see come about. But it sure looks like the whole gang of protesters in their various forms all are not apposed to dethroning the Supreme Grand Ayalatollah, as well as obviously doing away with Mad Dog.
