Who cares? It’s nothing but a photo-op prop anyway. Anyone who really thinks the Obamas do the work in that garden, well, I have a nice bridge to sell you...
I don’t know. There is another posting on this forum that was talking about them eating tomatoes. I saw pictures of the lettuce, and thought yum, nice tender young lettuce salad.
The thought did cross my mind that they grew awful fast! I remember when she planted, and didn’t expect a harvest until much later.. It’s intriguing that others were wondering the same thing. The idea that the plants could have been switched out is wierd.. WoW
Ambitious is right. I wonder what kind of ROI this garden puts out. That there is a $1500+ setup. So have they pulled 10% of that out yet?
As many obvious photoshopped pics as the Obama camp puts out, not to mention that ridiculous birth certificate, I don’t doubt anything anymore.
I didn’t think you could get anymore wag the dog than the Clintons, but I was so so wrong.
Actually, that rainy and cool spring weather is making things happen more slowly this year. Our 4th of July tomatoes probably won't be ready until the third week of July. We just haven't had much sunshine or warm weather, and we have way more rain than is optimal.
My daughter lives in a DC suburb, She planted too early, early March, so she spent many evenings covering her plants to protect them from frost. So far she has had peas and her tomatoes are starting to get red. She lost her squash to frost and rain. So I don’t know my daughter is in the DC area, has some garden experience, but she has not had the spectacular results Mrs. O has had.
when I saw pics of the lettuce being held in hand by FLOTUS i said to myself i had seen some earlier like that at the Georgetown Safeway.... that was some lookin’ lettuce!
So, ASKING questions about Michelle's garden, according to Susan Reimer is a 'conspiracy'?! I guess we are supposed to take the Obama's at face value. No thanks! We have seen their lies and photo ops while the 'reporters' cover for them including this lefty nutjob, Susan Reimer.
Remember, this is the fool who trashed Sarah Palin.
Susan Reimer's article, A Woman- but why this woman?
"You want to look good to the evangelicals? Choose a running mate with a Down syndrome child."
There is a special place in HELL for people like her! So excuse me for IGNORING anything she has to say about ANYTHING!
Susan Reimer, columnist for the Baltimore Sun, is shocked, SHOCKED I tell you, that people took exception to her tactless bashing of Governor Sarah Palin in her September 1 column, "A woman -- but why this woman?" In fact, Reimer is so upset that people where exercised enough to drop her a note, give her a call, or write an email about her baseless smearing of Palin that she says in her September 5 column that she feels "frightened."
Reimer was shocked to find that her substance free, lie filled attack on John McCain and Governor Sarah Palin generated "More than 8,200 comments were posted to the column on The Baltimore Sun's Web site. I received more than 700 personal e-mails and about 50 phone calls."
Thanks for the info. It helps to have gardners’ input. Guess it’s a real garden. LoL Our grass has been growing so fast we can barely keep up.
My garden is just sucking in Montana. Cold and dry in May, cold and rainy this June. Windy both months,
I don’t think they planted seeds. Although I wasn’t paying any attention and knew it was just another attempt at showing a softer, lovey Michelle, they probably planted mature plants.
The whole thing was a photo-op anyway to get people to think that the Obama’s were a nice ordinary family. It was a stupid stunt—imagine Jackie Kennedy doing something like this? No!
And it's flawless because I'm sure they'd love for the Republicans (or anyone) to bring this up. You can predict the contempt and mockery that the media would heap on the poor souls for their heartless, partisan pettiness.
Good research!
IMHO they shouldn’t have sown directly outdoors anyway. And, that writer should know that alot of rainy days also means less sun, more weeds, fungus and rot problems etc, so it isn’t necessarily all good.
While I think the garden is great for local schoolkids (if they should get to come and help tend often), I’ll bet the garden is tended 24/7 by the professional WH gardeners.
PS: didn't you love her gardening outfit? Huge black sweater, black shirt and black pants. Very fashion forward.
Re: “Seems like there are people with to much time on their hands..”
No! People are just trying to show that this empty shell of a man is all smoke and mirrors.
We’d just like to know who’s pulling the strings? This man IS someones puppet, but who?
I’ve had to cut my grass more than once a week this spring — the growing weather here in DC has been perfect.
There is no reason their garden couldn’t have grown as it is shown, what with the probably thousands of dollars they spent on it.
What is most certainly true is that we paid hundreds of dollars per plant when it was all said and done.
