Hot Air breaks the $10,000 mark and EVERY team (including FR) is on the Board!
Troopathon.org ^ | June 23, 2009 | Erica Anderson

Posted on 06/23/2009 2:23:20 PM PDT by Jim Robinson

With just two days left, Hot Air continues to surge! Our latest count brings their total to $13,005.70 in care package! We're absolutely stunned with the great success of this blogger competition-further noted by EVERY team's standing on our score board.

The Anti-Jihadists continue their strong rally and remain in second with $5,099.21. And in a remarkable comeback, Ron Winter's Greyhawks team is now in third with $1,574.64 for care packages. Our new teams, FreeRepublic.com and Family Security Matters, are in fourth and fifth with $274.95 and $224.98, respectively. And, Team COINS rounds up the list in sixth with $124.98 for care packages. The latest roster and standings can be seen here.

Thank you for pushing this great event and encouraging your readers to sponsor care packages to the troops! We have been quite impressed with all the terrific postings we've seen-please keep up the great work and help us finish strong!

Most important-this competition is not over! We're awarding prizes to the top three finishing teams and we're also going to announce a special prize for the team that brings in the most contributions for care packages in any single day. Any team can still win that special prize, so let's keep pushing!

And again, please let me know if you have any questions or need any additional information. Thank you again!

Cheers!

I very much support the military, although I wasn’t a soldier...and I bought a $50 package...

Quick question. Why doesn’t the military supply the men and women with the needed supplies? We spend literally trillions on the military, why can’t they find sunscreen or brownies for those serving?

I pay nearly 50% of my check in taxes...state, federal, etc. why can’t they get the personnel what they need?

Thank you very much!

I served in the Navy during Vietnam and can assure you that our military is very well cared for, but we always enjoyed those cards and care packages from home. Even and especially if from strangers. Gives you a great feeling to know how much you are loved and appreciated.

While the FReepathon isn’t for the troops, it keeps FR a float and I’m sure the troops appreciate FR, one of the few places where they are really appreciated.

Thanks and Good work for representing FR.

More celebrities for the Troopathon tomorrow:
More Stars Join Troopathon

Charlie Daniels, Pat Sajak, John O’Hurley Dale Dye, Jerry Heleva, Gavin McLeod

In addition  to all of the major conservative  talk show hosts, celebrities are lining up for Move America Forward’s Troopathon.  Just as a sample of some of the great talent we are lining up, we have: country western megastar Charlie Daniels, TV game show host Pat Sajak, and actors John O’Hurley, Dale Dye, Jerry Heleva, also known as Saddam Hussein, and Love Boar Captain Gavin McLeod.

They all want to help get care package to our troops serving overseas, by signing on to our troopathon. But to be a success, we need more than celebrities.  We need you to join in and help us achieve our goal of the biggest care package drive for our troops is history – beating our record from last year.

Will You Support Our Troops Now?

“I am humbled by the overwhelming support for our troops in the entertainment industry,” said Debbie Lee, whose son, Marc Alan Lee, was the first Navy SEAL to give his life in Iraq.

“Sometimes when I think of people like Sean Penn and Alec Baldwin, it seems like Hollywood lost its way in supporting America and our troops as it did in World War II.  This has heartened me and reminded me that there are still plenty of people in Hollywood who love and support our troops and their missions,” added Lee.

“Honor Their Service” is being held June 25 at the Ronald Reagan Presidential Library and will run live on Ustream.tv for an incredible eight hours without interruption.  We have a huge list of celebrities who will be participating, including such names as Rush Linbaugh, Mark Levin, Sean Hannity from radio, authors like Ann Coulter and Chuck Holton, musicians Charlie Daniels and John Ondrasik, and TV personalities and actors like Pat Sajak, Dale Dye and John O’Hurley.

While we here at home can enjoy our freedom and go swimming this summer or sit inside our air-conditioned homes, our uniformed men and women continue to march in the heat and fight for freedom. The temperature in Iraq today is forecast at 107 degrees, and by Tuesday that will rise to 113 degrees. Imagine packing all of a soldier’s gear in such stifling heat and you may get an idea of why the care packages with Gatorade are so important to our troops.

Inside the care packages are items that the troops ask for most such as

 Boca Java Coffee
Oreo Cookies
Chap Stick
Deodorant
Painted Hills Beef Jerky
Planters Trail Mix
Ocean Spray Craisins Trail Mix
Gatorade
Candy Diplomacy Jelly Belly Jelly Beans
For The Troops CDs
Hot Chocolate
Hot Apple Cider
Bug Repellent
Wet Wipes
Foot Powder
Sun block

Most importantly, each care package comes with YOUR letter expressing support for the troops, encouraging them to keep up the good work! Please sponsor one today

TROOPS FIGHTING UNBELIEVABLE HEAT
TEMPS IN THE MIDDLE EAST SOAR TO 110+

Not only are our troops battling al-Qaeda and the Taliban, they have to fight against the horrific dusty heat of the Middle East.   Summer is here and our troops are getting a strong dose of sun while deployed in Iraq. Baghdad is up to a scorching high of 113 degrees!

Not only is the heat beating down on them, but the average man or woman in uniform still has to carry a body armor vest (16 lbs) equipped with 2 side attachments to protect the kidneys (5 lbs) and neck, throat and groin guards (5 lbs) for a total of about 30 pounds of body armor. Add rifle, extra magazines of ammunition, first aid kit and other mission specific equipment, and the average soldier, airman, sailor or marine out on patrol is carrying upwards of 60 lbs of equipment.

Send a care package today filled with refreshing Gatorade to help keep the troops hydrated and cool in the hot summer and lots of beef jerky and trail mix to share in the Humvee.  You can choose to send enough for just a couple guys, or as many as a whole company of troops!

Here is the Link to Donate and bring FR's Blogger Shootout total up and help the troops!
