Freepers say the average American Jew could care less about Israel
This must mean no more accusations of dual loyalty!
And when Mort Klein can be bashed as a Jew when he questions Obama’s policies.........
Yeah that thread was a winner. Even more baffled and amazed freepers
It’s even better in the original Yiddish.
“Freepers say the average American Jew could care less about Israel”
There is more than a little truth in this statement.
I think your division of the three “camps” (Chamberlain-approach, Don’t Care, etc.) is the best I have seen.
I will say, from an Israeli perspective, North American Jews are viewed with increasing skepticism.
And everything think Rahm Emmanuel is a closet putznasher.
Against those on the left. On the right the charge sticks.
Ironic you say that. I don't ever recall meeting a Jewish female in my life who admits to having an abortion or is known to have had one. I'm sure that the abortion rate among Jewish women is well below the national average.
Not ironic, dishonest.
You missed #14 which is the most vile
It's mind-boggling to us Jewish Republicans that this addiction to the 'Rats is so common among Jews. These Jewish 'Rats seem not only blind to the plight of their fellow Jews in Israel (which could affect their physical security here) but to the threat that the Left represents to their economic self-interests in the US. Have they looked at their IRAs and 401(k)s lately, for example? Leftist Jews are often masochists, and under Obama the consequences of that mentality are even greater than in the past.
The biggest problems are the poor historical education of American Jews in public schools as well as the family milieu (where the mythology surrounding FDR still abounds), and the leftist political doggerel issued by the Reform rabbinate as "sermons" and other "Jewish" teachings.
He pointed out many of his coreligionists drive Mercedes or BMWs - kind of a denial thing that there are people in this world who simply want them dead.
And who wants to deal with that?
Well put.
They were voting liberal long before Roosevelt, Coolidge only got 27% of their vote, Al Smith lost the election against Hoover but he still got 72% of the Jewish vote, Eugene Debs and his socialist party got almost all of his votes from the 38% of Jews that voted for him.
Sometimes your true message is lost in your facetiousness, SJackson.
Are you saying that Jews as a whole "are not wanted" in the GOP? Well, contrary to mythology (and I think you'll agree with this), Jews are far from unwelcome in the GOP, and the ranks of Jewish Republicans are growing, not shrinking. As you well know, antisemitism, anti-Israel sentiments, and a pro-islamist mentality are far more prevalent in the 'Rat party, who ran and elected a presidential candidate who embodies all three.
BTW, as I've said many times in the past, that 78% is likely somewhat inflated due to poor polling technique.
I’ve told this story before on FR ... but my wife worked as a nanny for a Jewish couple. They were quite nice people, except for their politics.
My wife was 9 months pregnant during the election of 2004 with our first child — and her employer told her that it was important that she took into deep consideration ‘women’s rights’ when she voted for President.
My wife and I were horrified considering she was going to give birth soon (we had our son on Halloween 2004 — we brought him home on Election Day!)
And I’ve noted that a lot of liberals (like American Jews) live one way and vote another. All of the Jews I know are pro-choice. It’s quite maddening.
Woah, I just read how you could have misinterpreted what I wrote — I didn’t mean about the right of Jewish women to abort their babies — I meant the right of ALL women to abort their babies.
Yikes. That is not what I meant at all.
In particular, I find it virtually impossible from a purely statistical viewpoint that Debs, whose % nationally was something like 4%, got 38% of the Jewish vote. That study was possibly confined to a handful of selected Jewish big city ghetto neighborhoods at the time, where Debs did a bunch of his campaigning.
No, certainly not the GOP, who would reject most of the comments objected to here. More accurately “conservatives”, actually a small subset of “true conservatives”. Who are hostile to Jews. And yesn it’s on the left too. And yes, the DP is imo much more tolerant of hate within their ranks. And no, the media won’t cover that but will try to tie the right to degenerates like von Braun. That’s simply how things are. The right is held to higher standards, which is why our elected officials need to sleep only with their wives, on the left they don’t.
I got them from The Jewish Virtual Library
The numbers that I see from other sources such as modern elections always match them.
If you don’t like the research and the published election results, wouldn’t it make more sense to post the contradictory numbers at the same time as you attack them?
I’m always wary of a poster that simply says that a source for something like vote totals might be biased, give me a better source for the Jewish vote in American elections in the early 20th century.
