ATLANTA, June 24 /Christian Newswire/ -- Dr. Alveda King, Pastoral Associate of Priests for Life and niece of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., responded today to the news that White House tapes of President Nixon reveal him saying that he thought abortion was 'necessary' when one parent was white and one was black.

"Since its inception, the abortion movement has been eliminating people that it considers undesirable -- people of color or those with low income," said Dr. King.  "President Nixon's comment is just one more reminder that abortion and racism are inextricably linked."

The Nixon tapes coincide with the release of a new DVD expose on slavery, racism and eugenics, available at MAAFA21.com, wherein a White House recorded conversation between then President Nixon and staffers shows that the President was in agreement with population control under certain circumstances.

Priests for Life is the nation's largest Catholic pro-life organization dedicated to ending abortion and euthanasia. For more information, visit www.priestsforlife.org.

Black women need a reality check before they start complaining about racisim.

"The most dangerous place for an African American to be is in the womb of their African American mother." For every two African American women that get pregnant one will choose to abort. A Black baby is 5 times more likely to be killed in the womb than a White baby.”

When you are a race-baiter and you spend your life looking for racism, you could find it anywhere. Potato salad is probably racist, just like left-hand drive Yugos!!

People will always find what they are looking for! She's looking for racism and, lo and behold, she found it!!!

You couldn't be more wrong.

Dr. King IS NOT a race baiter, she is a pro-life activist who is aware of the FACT that the abortion industry targets Blacks and as a result Blacks abort at an alarmingly high rate.

She doesn't have to LOOK for this, it is plain to anyone who pays attention.

Oh, please!! Spare me.

There are greater problems in the black community than abortion. Black Americans have the highest incidence of single parent families. They are stereotyped on TV as thugs, drug dealers, crooks and thieves, and the women are castigated by black rap "artists" (and I use the term extremely loosely) as "hos". In this environment, there isn't a whole lot going for way too many of them in the self-esteem department. These are the "role" models that are put before them on a daily basis, just as the sports "stars" who are highly paid for a playing a game and acting like ignorant thugs and fools off the field. Is it any wonder that too many of these kids dream of becoming a pro athlete or music entertainer; even if they lack most of the talents requisite to make it in these fields? Education isn't a priority, hitting it big, driving a "flash" car and having material possessions are what these kids dream of.

Add into the mix the liberal philosophy (as our Dear Leader so delicately phrased it during the campaign) "Why should a young girl be punished with a baby for one single mistake?" As life-long supporters of the Democrat Party, far too many black Americans, of all ages, buy into the liberal philosophy lock, stock and barrel because of the indoctrination they get from their peers and elders in the black community that conservatives hate them and only want to oppress them.

I've been around and voting ever since before Roe v. Wade came into being and NEVER have I seen ANY evidence to suggest that black women are coerced or targeted into undergoing abortions more than women from any other group.

GENERALLY speaking, black Americans eschew adoption in greater numbers than any other ethnic group. Given the environment in too many black neighborhoods with gangs, drugs, rampant crime, murder, drive-bys and too many other issues, it is not surprising that black Americans have higher incidence of abortion than any other group.

And, yet, they scoff at the successful black Americans such as Bill Cosby and Sidney Poitier (I don't know how they perceive Morgan Freeman); castigating them as "oreos". Even George Washington Carver, a great black scientist and inventer, is disregarded by younger blacks today as a sellout to the white man. And, why shouldn't they blame white people for their ills?? Too many black activists, starting with Dr. ML King and continuing through today with the likes of Jesse Jackson, Al Sharpton and Louis Farrakhan, to name but a few, constantly telling them that life would be perfect if it weren't for white people.

Sorry, wagglebee, I empathize with many of the problems facing black Americans today, but I don't try to link nonrelated items together and try to claim a racial bias exists as Dr. Alveda King has done. This is sheer nonsense.

You have been spared.

Wagglebee, how many black babies haven't been spared?

Then why are abortuaries typically located in lower-income areas? Why are 35% of abortions done on Blacks when they only make up 11-12% of the population?

GENERALLY speaking, black Americans eschew adoption in greater numbers than any other ethnic group.

Is this your opinion or do you actually have some facts to back it up?

How are these fact "non-related"? And why question Dr. King's comment? You seem to conveniently ignore what Nixon actually said.

Why is there air? Why is grass green and the sky blue?? Let me start deconstructing your argument with the first question

Then why are abortuaries typically located in lower-income areas?

Abortion clinics, like gas stations, grocery stores and post offices gotta be located SOMEWHERE. Some are located in lower income areas to be closer to prospective clients who live in those areas, just as some are located in more upscale areas to be closer to prospective clientele that live in THOSE areas.

Why are 35% of abortions done on Blacks when they only make up 11-12% of the population?

Same question back at ya - why are prisons disproportionally filled with black American inmates?? Perhaps, as a partial result of their environment and their "role models", they are committing a disproportionate share of the crimes!!

Is this your opinion or do you actually have some facts to back it up?

I don't have facts at my fingertips, waggle, but I have seen any number of news stories on television and in the papers that address this very issue and they have stated that, based on their research, black Americans are less likely to adopt than any other single ethnic group.

How are these fact "non-related"? And why question Dr. King's comment? You seem to conveniently ignore what Nixon actually said.

Not at all, I ascribe Nixon's comments to the opinion of one person - Nixon. That doesn't mean that I share that opinion or that I agree with him. Nor, by hysterically screeching to the press, can any rational person generalize his comments across racial boundaries and make them apply to all persons of a given race, creed, religion, hair/eye color or diet!!! People with access to the press say stupid things all the time, it doesn't mean that those things are true or that they apply to everyone.

Be aware of some institutional history:

1. Margaret Sanger founded the American Birth Control League -- which later became Planned Parenthood.

2. Besides being more-or-less a libertine who favored abortion as a means of avoiding the consequences of sexual activity, Sanger was also a big fan of eugenics .

3. Thus, Sanger was especially enthusiastic about promoting abortion among the blacks -- whom she considered "genetically unfit to breed".

Accordingly, from the outset, Planned Parenthood served as, first, a vendor of social convenience for well-off white women and, second, as an instrument of social intervention designed to minimize the black population.

Certainly, members of Planned Parenthood would claim that this no longer describes their mission. But they cannot argue what they were to begin with.

All you have offered is OPINION while ignoring the history of abortion in America. Have you considered that the collapse of black families coincided with LBJ’s welfare programs and Roe v. Wade?

If you choose to regard it as “OPINION”, that’s your choice. If you think that Nixon’s opinion turned all Americans into racist abortionists, I’ve got some other dumb quotes to share with you.

The collapse of black famailies coincided with many things - LBJ (of whom I am NOT a fan) - and the 4 homely broads who couldn’t get dates (because they were 4 homely broads), so they went on to develop “women’s lib” which declared that men were an unnecessary appendage to women. Black men, as a group, interpreted that as a second emancipation, as did many black women.

The effects of the “women’s lib” movement is still rippling through our society. One of the ways we see it is in the number of single parent black households and the numbers of abortions sought by black women.

Thank you for the info, but I am quite aware of Margaret Sanger and who/what she was.

It doesn’t change my opinion that what Nixon uttered somehow tarnishes abortion with racism. Abortion tarnishes itself simply being what it is, it didn’t needed any help from Nixon, nor does his opinion make it a racist institution which is what this discussion is about.

I'm not disagreeing with you about Nixon.

But the history of abortion is unquestionably "tarnished by racism" (not to mention a bundle of other moral issues).
