I certainly believe in the validity of the Shroud, which is strongly supported by the evidence from the Sudarium of Oviedo.
And I have a predisposition to believe that the Ethiopians do indeed possess the Ark, which IIRC went missing under Manasseh. They have been celebrating the Ark’s presence for a very long time, in the holiday known as Timkat.

Even the Early Christians saw this very clearly.

Athanasius of Alexandria (c. 296–373) was the main defender of the deity of Christ against the second-century heretics. He wrote: “O noble Virgin, truly you are greater than any other greatness. For who is your equal in greatness, O dwelling place of God the Word? To whom among all creatures shall I compare you, O Virgin? You are greater than them all O [Ark of the] Covenant, clothed with purity instead of gold! Gregory the Wonder Worker (c. 213–c. 270) wrote: “Let us chant the melody that has been taught us by the inspired harp of David, and say, ‘Arise, O Lord, into thy rest; thou, and the ark of thy sanctuary.’ For the Holy Virgin is in truth an ark, wrought with gold both within and without, that has received the whole treasury of the sanctuary” (Homily on the Annunciation to the Holy Virgin Mary).
Let’s say this is true. Let’s say it really is the Ark. Wouldn’t Israel have a right to demand its return?
IIRC, the Shroud of Turin got passed around private hands for quite some time before it was finally handed over to the Church.
Will Bill Maher be willing to courageously back up his refusal to believe by opening the Ark with his own unprotected hands????
