More Front-Running: Where Are The Cops?
The Market Ticker ^ | June 25, 2009 | Karl Denninger

That's last night.

Over 12,000 contracts traded in two five-minute periods, over 10,000 right up on the time of that spike.

There was no news of any sort related to the US markets on the wire last night. Zero. None. I and many others were wondering what the heck caused that.

This morning, the buying began in earnest at 8:30 Central, and then again at 10:00 Eastern - one hour in front of the "announcement", again on heavy volume.

Where is the SEC?

Where is the SEC's demand for trading records on these contracts, particularly the ones last night on Globex?

That was a highly unusual trading pattern that strongly suggested that someone knew something and acted on it front of a news release.

Yet another story the MSM will ignore.

Yet another reason to attend your friendly neighborhood tea party. This sort of crooked trading by whomever needs stopped, now.

One of the most serious structural impediments to growth in our economy is WHITE COLLAR CRIME. Investors and savers have to spend a lot of energy trying to avoid scams.

Taxpayers are bailing out people who wrote “liar’s loans” and homeowners who lied on their applications. They all should have been prosecuted. It’s not too late!

I think that Republicans should make the issue of crime & corruption a mafor theme for 2010 and beyond.

Just think of how many crooked Democrat politicians and supporters we could nab! Think of the massive asset forfeitures!

Oh yeah, why the hell does Bernie Madoff’s wife still live in a $7M apartment? Why didn’t the judge seize the apartment and sell it to pay back the victims?

” why the hell does Bernie Madoff’s wife still live in a $7M apartment?”

Because the legal process takes time. Do you advocate we abandon that?
