Qantas cancels, defers order for Boeing 787s

Boeing's largest airline customer for the 787 said it is canceling orders for 15 Dreamliners and deferring another 15 deliveries by four years. Qantas Group, the parent of Qantas and discount carrier Jetstar, said Friday in Australia that the changes were driven by the economic climate, not this week's announcement of a design problem that will add weeks or months to the much-delayed plane's first flight. Qantas has 50 remaining Dreamliners on order, comprising 35 787-9s and 15 787-8s. "The latest delay is disappointing, but we do not expect it to impact the Qantas Group given these changes to our delivery program," said Qantas CEO Alan Joyce. "We remain committed to the aircraft as the right choice."

With all due apologies to Washington state conservatives, I hope this hits the Seattle leftists right in the wind pipe.

They did this not only to themselves but all those who believe in a sound and fair fiscal policy, not anti-free-market leftist tyranny.

To all those friends I still have in Seattle, get out while you can. I wish you well, but I want all the others to lose their shirts and everything else.

Maybe then they won't think that statue of Lenin in Fremont is so hip.

The state drove Boeing out of Washinton. They should have gone to TX, but chose IL. I bet they are regreting that now.

I don't see how they can thumb their collective noses at one of the largest employers in the Northwest! Boeing moved their corporate headquarters to Chicago. The great history of this company should have been enough to do all they could to keep her there! Just for instance: The B-17

Much ado about nothing. Boeing still has 3500 planes in the production pipeline. Cancellation of 15 airplanes is very, very small. Not good, of course, but pretty insignificant given the pipeline status.
