Anti-immigrant group says John Cornyn supports amnesty; sen. denounces "fear tactics" [NumbersUSA]
The Dallas Morning News ^ | 2009-06-28

On the eve of the White House immigration summit a few days ago, NumbersUSA - a group determined to shut the borders to illegal immigrants -- tried to drum up donations by bashing Sen. John Cornyn and his "frightening pro-amnesty" stance.

Immigrant advocates don't exactly view Cornyn as a top ally, so a fierce attack from the right is a bit surprising. He adamantly opposes anything the pro-immigrant side considers amnesty -- which would involve providing a path to citizenship for those 12 million already here. But he does favor a new guest/temporary worker program of some sort, to ease unlawful border crossings. Poor foreigners want jobs; U.S. employers want labor.

On what issues is Cornyn a RINO? If he is, I need to know about it.

1. “LeVecke also mentioned that McCain and he had ‘spoken about working with Senator (John) Cornyn to take leadership with regard to immigration reform.’”

http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/news/2227969/posts

2. And, obviously, supporting Specter (ex-RINO) over Toomey and Crist (RINO) over Rubio.

I will never view him the same after he first endorsed Specter who became a Dem and then Crist of FL who has a primary and is not the incumbent. Cornyn made it so I will NEVER donate one penny to the NRSC during this election cycle and I have a lot of company.

Right now I wouldn’t believe much of what he has to say as he can be swayed in his support. If he said the sky was blue, I would have to go check.

See post 4. There was some talk by folks linked to McCain that McCain wants to work with Cornyn to “take leadership with regard to immigration reform” — which you know, by political doublespeak, is not a good thing — and of course, the two were both at Obama’s “bipartisan” immigration summit at the White House along with various assorted RINOs.

Of course, yeah, supporting Specter and Crist over real conservatives Toomey and Rubio, respectively...that too. Something seems wrong here. IMO, Cornyn has gone over to the dark side.

Which is a newly revised, watered down version of W's old plan of let them do the work Americans won't do (they forgot...FOR THAT PRICE)

Love you W, but you were soooo wrong on this one. Cornyn was one of W's biggest supporters on this plan.

PLEASE CONGRESSMEN/WOMEN...DON'T TAKE US FOR DUMB ANY LONGER!

CONSERVATISM - YOU'RE EITHER WITH US, OR AGAINST US!

We tried amnesty once.....it didn’t work then and it won’t work now. Our politicians are stupid and users of the voters. Close the borders, send illegals back.....it’s the right thing to do and they know it. They are breaking our laws and getting away with it. Even our own Mexican-American people don’t want them here. It’s the peoples decision, not the politicians. Do what the people want for a change.

Screw the media hate tactics, I’m a pro-American who does not want to be displaced so some cat lady types can feel good about themselves. Basically I think the pro-immigration types have flipped into sociopath territory with their clamoring for open borders and millions entering a country with serious economic problems.

Cornyn’s feathering his nest, I guess. Very, very disappointing.

Cornyn loves guest worker and visa programs. He also authored bills for years to push what would basically form the ‘north american’ union until he was called out on it. He has made some good votes and isn’t as bad as McCain, but rather on again, off again.

If you remember anything about Amnesty, remember this: the "12 million" (20 million) being promoted for amnesty are of completely unknown and unknowable name, background, country of origin, criminal status, health status, etc. They could be drug dealers, criminals, pedophiles, murderers, spies, AIDS or TB carriers, terrorists, anything. None of the normal background checks will be applied to these individuals. They do not have to be Hispanic. They can be from anywhere in the world. Hey Chinese, Rumanians, Lebanese, Congolese, Russians. Want a new identity? Come join America's illegal alien amnesty!

I understand. Right now, start with the illegals out of Mexico. Easiest ones to target and maybe the rest will see what is coming. But do our politicians have any cajones? I doubt it.

My point is that this is an egregious public security and national security nightmare and our disgusting politicians seem to think that’s A-OK.

Pansy Graham and McQueeg I put at the top, as they are both military men whom I would swear must be Manchurian Candidates.

How can a military man encourage 20++ million unknown individuals to infiltrate America with no background checks!?!?!?

Cornyn: Gingrich And Limbaugh Statements On Sotomayor Are ‘Inappropriate’ And ‘Wrong’
Fri May 29 07:43:07 2009 ·

As if to magnify what are already major differences between elected Republicans and conservative activists on the question of Sonia Sotomayor, check out what conservative senator (and chairman of the National Republican Senatorial Committee and Judiciary Comittee member and former Texas State Supreme Court Justice) had to say. “I think it’s terrible. This is not the kind of tone that any of us want to set when it comes to performing our constitutional responsibilities of advice and consent.” Republican leaders may not have as much sway over their own interest groups as Democratic leaders do over their, so don’t expect...

Cornyn applauds Obama on immigration reform

Here’s what Cornyn said about the Obama White House’s decision to re-open the public dialogue on immigration: “I applaud President Obama’s commitment to addressing comprehensive immigration reform this year, and stand ready to work with him to produce a product that represents the best interests of America, including respect for the rule of law, national security and economic security. “Comprehensive, common-sense immigration reform remains a top priority for me. Any legislation must protect our borders, promote economic prosperity in Texas and throughout the United States, and be consistent with our American values of compassion, family and opportunity.”
