In a straw poll at the Olathe Republican Party's annual Picnic and Straw Poll Saturday at the Mahaffie Stagecoach Stop, Tiahrt grabbed a big win in a straw poll faceoff.
President -- 2012
Sarah Palin: 76
Mike Huckabee: 54
Mitt Romney: 52
Bobby Jindal: 19
Ron Paul: 9

TIAHRT!
Jerry Moran is a RINO, who would vote far more often in the liberal column, if not for the fact that he represents a conservative district.
Moran actually said that Obama was “easier to work with” than BUSH!
Also, Moran stuffed the ballot box, in a previous straw poll, and sent out a bunch of press releases on the bogus poll.
Huckabee and Paul are non starters in my book.
The Huckster won the state of Kansas, in the caucus, primarily as a protest vote against McCain.
What’s a Tiahrt?
Palin all the way!
This is the best shot we have EVER had to elect a true, prolife Goveror in the state of Kansas.
Sebelius HAD to go.
If she had stayed, as governor, she might well have been our next SENATOR, far, far worse than HHS.
No matter who Obama got, as HHS secretary, their views would have been EXACTLY the same as Sebelius!
He reminded me of Huckabee during the campaign. Is he a Christian Democrat as well?
That straw poll expressed in percentages looks like this:
President — 2012
Sarah Palin: 36%
Mike Huckabee: 26%
Mitt Romney: 25%
Bobby Jindal: 9%
Ron Paul: 4%
Sarah is obviously the runaway leader, no matter how you slice it. She’ll be very tough to beat in the 2012 primaries. I know she’s got my support.
Mike Huckabee’s score is a bit surprising to me. I wouldn’t think he’d poll that high. I honestly don’t believe that he’s got quite that level of support for a 2012 run.
Palin all the way
Gov. Palin has history working against her. No Republican has ever been the losing Vice Presidential candidate, and then gone on to win the Presidential nomination.
One Democrat has, however, so that might give her some hope. The losing Dem Veep candidate in 1920 went on to a fair amount of political success.
And, the Party rarely nominates liberals.
McCain was prolife and pro 2nd Amendment, but not perfect, on both counts.
On many of the other issues McCain was a liberal, and he NEEDED Palin to “balance the ticket” and make conservatives happy.
Palin will be the first.
There’s always a first for everything.
Before Sarah Palin, when did a vice-presidential nominee attract more interest and support than the top of the ticket?
Before Sarah Palin, when did people honestly say they couldn’t stand the presidential nominee but came out to vote for the running mate?
Before Sarah Palin, when did a vice-presidential debate draw more TV viewers than a presidential debate during the same election?
Before Sarah Palin, when did a defeated vice-presidential nominee attract more public and media interest than the elected vice president?
Before Sarah Palin, when did a defeated vice-presidential nominee immediately become the leading contender for their party’s presidential nomination next time out?
Sarah Palin, like Barack Obama, is upending conventional wisdom about presidential politics. Who could have foreseen a candidate like Obama making it to the White House?
Since this is a straw poll of local party activists, it’s actually pretty encouraging for Palin. You could reasonably expect her support is even stronger among the regular folks.
Hey, good to see you back! Where’ve ya been?
Moran spoke about two weeks ago at the Tomahawk Ridge center in Overland Park. There were 300 folks in attendance. I think it will be a good race between him and Todd. But Moran will prevail.
We need Brownback as gov.
