Sorry, but the Dems will spin it as an example of the evil conservative-dominated Court and as a miscarriage of justice. They will use it to show all the more reason why Sotomayor is needed to keep the court from falling futher into the hands of conservatives. To them the SCOTUS is incredibly hidebound and conservative. They really believe that.

The merits of the case—that Sotomayor’s position is rank racism—will get lost in the the ideological struggle. Before this ruling, the Pubblies might have been able to use the merits of the case against Sotomayor but now, I fear, the current Supreme Court will become the issue rather than the merits of this particular egregious case of reverse racism.

I hope I’m proven wrong.

Exactly. I agree this decision will now become a political football.

On the other hand, it shows the rank partisanship on the side of the liberals on the Court. They are willing to subvert the Constitution to support bad decisions. THAT's what the pubbies should make political hay out of.

It's a continuous struggle, unlike many of the fist-pumping "we won" attitudes we fall into here when we get one bit of good news.

It's like breaking through a big wave on the way to port and saying "yeah, baby! We're home!"

No, there's a continuous trail of waves, and rocks, and winds and debris to navigate to dock. This is just one tiny point on the path.

Competent captains would have a strategy to stay on course no matter the obstacles.

That's what you correctly recognize in the Dem spin machine. Like it or not, no matter what happens, THEY can account for it in their plan.

If the wind turns around on conservatives, we don't have another plan-for-tacking, our leaders just throw their hands up and go with the new wind.

Oh I think you are right enough. but at this point I don’t care. I am done with trying not to offend liberals. F-them, If they want to play the ram it down everyone’s throat game, we are going to have to play it as well. And do it better than they do.
