Edited on 06/29/2009 2:53:07 PM PDT by Admin Moderator. [history]

The Obama administration worked in recent days to prevent President Manuel Zelaya's ouster, said a senior U.S. official. The State Department, in particular, communicated to Honduran officials on the ground that President Barack Obama wouldn't support any nondemocratic transfer of power in the Central American country.

Honduras did follow the rule of law — it was the President who was ousted that didn’t follow it but then we are talking about an Administration that appoints Czars for various items that have no oversight.

What happened to not meddling in other countries by ZERO?

Not really. His grandparents were Communists. So was his mentor that he used to sell drugs with, Frank Marshall Davis. ALL of his past associates are either devout Marxists, Muslims, terrorists or Chicago thugs.

The Honduran military took the Commie out because he was violating their Constitution. I hope this may serve as a lesson or example for our own military.

Secretary of State Hillary Clinton joined Obama Sunday in criticizing the Honduran coup and calling for the restoration of the democratic process.

"We call on all parties in Honduras to respect the constitutional order and the rule of law, to reaffirm their democratic vocation, and to commit themselves to resolve political disputes peacefully and through dialogue," Clinton said in a statement.

Does this woman even KNOW what went on there? If this is how in touch the people are in this administration, whew, we are in a world of hurt.

From what understand, is the congress in Honduras was following the rule of law by having teh military removet the president. I believe the country is not under a military coup, but the President of the congress is now “acting” president (as their constitution requires).

“Secretary of State Hillary Clinton joined Obama Sunday in criticizing the Honduran coup and calling for the restoration of the democratic process.”

What ‘democratic process’? Even with a broken elbow this B@!#@ just keeps on!

Pissant, we are in deep........

I keep thinking about Duncan Hunter’s comments on the state department. I think ‘knuckleheads’ was the term he used.

As was thoroughly hashed out on this thread, the Honduran Supreme Court declared that the President was acting illegally and ordered his arrest. The military did not act on its own independent initiative.

“We call on all parties in Honduras to respect the constitutional order and the rule of law, to reaffirm their democratic vocation, and to commit themselves to resolve political disputes peacefully and through dialogue,” Clinton said in a statement.

Does the idiot running the State Department even realize that’s exactly what has already happened in Honduras?

Forgive me, it’s a rhetorical question since I know the real agenda is propping up an unconstitutional Marxist regime down there and not respecting constitutional order and the rule of law.

I wasn't really being sarcastic, nor was it rhetorical ... I can't come up with the proper tone of my post, but assuredly, you are correct. As papabear points out later here:

Yes, Califreak, truly frightening, especially in view of what may be coming down the pike.

To Hillary you Marxist bitch:

So after they bitch-slapped you at the OAS and refused to let you speak with your pale blue/green pant-suit you still support this guy?

After they lifted the ban on Cuba and after Zalaya said: "The Cold War has ended this day in San Pedro Sula," "We begin a new era of fraternity and tolerance."

After you left the OAS in disgrace and as they all laughed at the USA you still support this guy?

In plain language:

“...Earlier this year, in the face of strong public opposition, Honduran President Jose Manuel Zelaya Rosales declared that he would stage a referendum to have the country’s constitutional term limits law overturned, thereby allowing him to remain indefinitely in power. The people of Honduras had adopted the single, four-year—term limit as part of their Constitution in January of 1982. Significantly, the term limits provision is one of only eight “firm articles,” out of 375. By law, cannot be amended.

The Supreme Court of Honduras declared the Zelaya referendum unconstitutional, his own Liberal Party came out in strong opposition, and the public overwhelmingly opposed his power grab. Despite this, Zelaya, a leftwing politician with strong ties to Cuba’s Castro and Venezuela’s Chavez, scheduled the referendum for Sunday, June 28. At midnight, Wednesday, June 24, the strong-arm president gave a televised speech accusing his opposition of promoting “destabilization and chaos” by attempting to thwart his unconstitutional referendum.

As the situation in Honduras continued to deteriorate, the Zelaya’s attorney general called for his ouster; his Defense Minister resigned; he fired the head of the Joint Chiefs of Staff for stating that he would refuse to send out troops to put down public protests; the chiefs of the army, navy, and air force resigned; and the country’s Supreme Court ordered the nation’s army and police not to support the unconstitutional referendum...”

I have to admit seeing Hillary on the wrong side of the Rule of Law again made me chuckle. She should know a little something about what happens when a President goes against the Rule of Law. Stupid Senate should have removed Clinton for lying and we would have been rid of Ms. Clinton as well. Her true Marxist leanings are coning out now.
