BREITBART: Rise and fall of Perez Hilton
Washington Times ^ | June 29, 2009 | Andrew Breitbart

Posted on 06/29/2009 6:16:36 PM PDT by Albion Wilde

Mario Lavandeira, the mean-spirited impresario behind...PerezHilton.com, ...is now universally scorned and widely considered the villain of an incident that left him appropriately "black eyed."

[snip] ...political correctness is like roshambo, the "rock-paper-scissors" game.... Black beats white. Gay beats white. Black beats gay...

[snip] Mr. Lavandeira has used his sexual orientation as a shield to deflect criticism. But in the process he has hurt the cause of gay rights. That is why the Gay & Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation took the Black Eyed Peas' side. When GLAAD is at the forefront of a movement that actively scorns "hate" - or, as the bumper stickers call it, H8 - it's impossible to defend the behavior of a gay activist who so actively practices it.

Prez Hilton is still taking up space and Billy Mays is gone.

Terrible times folks.

Urban dictionary (UD) is wrong and I’m guessing this is an invented or misapplied name like Kwanza. MO

I just link what I find on the Internets. Wikipedia supports the Rochambeau nomenclature, but they are user-edited as well.

Here's a blogger, Phil Price, on Rochambeau around the world.

Apparently there is an iPhone Rochambeau application.

Finally, here is the web site of the World RPS Society, which sponsors an RPS [Rock Paper Scissors] World Championship tournament and has piles of information, books for sale and FAQs. I looked around but couldn't find a list of alternate names for the game. You may have better luck than I did... around our neighborhood, we just called it Rock Paper Scissors. The site claims it is the most widely-played game in the world. Seems possible...

I should think that lavandeira is Portuguese, judging by the suffix.

Interesting! Thanks for the linguistic tip.

Well, we've got the 3rd I.D. on our side .... they beat up Muslims who trump women, who get over blacks, who get over gays, and gay beats white.

Kind of a daisy chain, don't you think?

But I want to be on the side of the guys with the heavy artillery.

I laughed when he said he called 911 police and the dispatcher said they may send someone over, but they had emergencies to attend to first.

That was startling ... and then he said that he didn't know what to do when they said that -- his eye was bleeding and they were following him because they were staying in the same hotel. I'm thinking to myself, so go to an emergency room and get your eye looked at, and make a police report. But nooooo, he pulls out his device and starts Twittering!

It's starting to sound like a San Francisco tourist attraction.

Years (well, actually decades) ago I wrote a program in Pascal called “rsp.” It would remember your moves against it and try to outguess you based on your move history. It was no great shakes through the first few hundred games, but as it built up significant statistics on you, it gradually pulled ahead. And after that, you could never catch up. (Unless you used the built-in cheat provided by yr hmbl svt that showed you the dossier it had built up on you.)

My only surprise in his being punched in the face by some bodyguard is ... why did it take so long for someone to do exactly that. This guy seems to be someone who was in dire need of a punch in the face.

Hahaha. You said “pulls out his device.”

How appropriate for “PerezHilton” who had to mooch off an actual/fake celebrity’s name in order to get himself noticed. Woooooonnnnnddddeeerrrrfffuuullll...

Yep, white guys finish last -- until the trouble starts. Then all the rest of them go running for the nearest policeman, firefighter or soldier, the majority of whom are white guys. Even Perez Hilton called the cops to come to him instead of taking his Beemer to the police station to make the report. When you compare that video of him sniveling over a well-earned sock in the face to the courage of any U.S. soldier, anywhere, you just cringe. Scum.

Cool! Ever thought of working it up again in Linux? Sounds fun! I love reeeeally simple computer games with nothing more than a pattern that gets progressively harder, like Tetris. Two of my favorites are Atomica and Brickshooter.

Yes, this was in the daily diggs yesterday :) In fact, I’m the one who submitted it from the WT page ;-)

But thanks for making sure I was aware of it!

I have thought of redoing it in C using a slightly different program structure. Seem to be too busy at present with job and crashed home computers, though.
