This is what I was afraid of. Against sheer brutality, the movement could peter out.

The question is that, after brutal suppression is done, he could be emboldened enough to do something really dangerous.

I was sure this was going to happen. People were saying he’d call out the tanks, but there was really no need for him to do so. Once Bambi made it clear that the US and hence the world press and institutions didn’t care, all Ahmadinejad had to do was let things die down (which was inevitable, since the people were unarmed and had no support) and then pick them up at his leisure.

I read that some had been arrested in the hospital days ago, and many others were being tracked through the Western made technology that he used to block and monitor their phone calls and Internet use.

It’s what many of us feared. We were not naive to think the mullahs would not sink to this level.

Their barbarism is what keeps them in power.
