On health care, Romney pointed to the successes of his own plan but criticized Obama's for its emphasis on a public option.
"The president's plan makes an enormous error by saying we're going to put government into the insurance business. We got everyone in Massachusetts insured and we did it without putting government into the insurance business," he said. "We said instead we're going to help people get private free enterprise kind of insurance they can buy from a number of different companies."
He said the system led to plunging premiums while offering a healthy choice of options for consumers.
"It's working well. We got 440,000 more people insured than when the plan was put in place, it costs less than 2 percent of the state budget -- it's a plan that's working, it's a good model," he said.

I'm not familiar with this issue, so please clarify one point for me:
Did Reagan or did he not sign the bill legalizing abortion (regardless of the rationale at the time)?
Reagan signed the bill with specific limitations for rape, incest or health of the mother - within the realm of current pro-life positions. He did not envision it as allowing abortion on-demand, but doctors abused the last provision. He later said he regretted signing the bill because of that.
Yes he did sign that bill in 1967, do you want to learn more about it?
I came to the conclusion I was wasting my time with dirt-lover. Yes, I used the word support about Reagan signing a bill and then stated that overall he didn’t support abortion. What an incredible GOTCHA! zzzzzzzzzz snicker.
He’s a definite tar-baby.
You gonna parse 'is' for your next trick?
From post 43 - no such mention of that qualifier:
Did you vote for Reagan? I did and I did it despite the fact that he once supported abortion. There were plenty of "real conservatives" who didn't support Regan for a number of reasons. I supported him - yes it was his time.
You're caught in a lie and then you try to parse your way out of it.
I try and let some of the childish name-calling pass and give these people a few chances for intellectual honesty. But when winning points in an argument becomes more important than having a discussion I usually back away slowly and let them go looking for someone else to abuse for awhile. Sorry you got wrapped up in it.
Intellectual honesty? You just got caught lying on this thread and then have the delusional gall to cast judgement on the intellectual honesty of others? You really are beyond worthless.
I'd have more respect for you if you just came out and stated your positions without having to spread the RINO lie about Reagan that he once supported abortion. At least then we could have an HONEST discussion about differences.
You had more reasoned, knowledgeable replies than they deserved and much more patience than I. don’t ever leave.
Nah, I’m here until they toss me out. I just made a contribution too. :-)
That may work on the causal observer, however given as you are one of Mitt's most active sycophants here, as well as the fact you are using the boiler plate “critique” of Palin used ad naseum by her mainly Mitt aligned detractors here on FR, simply not using her name is a bit weak overall...
If you were not supporting him for president, why defend him so passionately from so called “smears”.
By smears I mean facts, verifiable linked facts, and occasional emotional hyperbole born out of frustration with the tactics used by his supporters on FR during the race, facts that show Mitt had no real commitment to the "self interests" of Conservatives.
Nice shootin’
So when Mitt Romney (R-ish UT MI MA CA) says:
"Ronald Reagan was Adamantly Pro-Choice"
You are fine with that, given what the term Adamantly means...
No, I think he was a bonehead for saying it. I also don’t go into a hissy fit every time a Romney post shows up at FR. If the MSM is so terrified of Palin they have to keep trashing her at every opportunity what does that say about Freepers who have to trash Romney every time there is a posting about him?
Honestly, some of you are pathetic. Can't you give credit where it's due? Hell, anybody that blasts Obama - any day of the week, I'll praise them for the act, not necessarily for their overall political views...
If Jessie Jackson came out tomorrow and BLASTED H for being weak on national security, besides hell freezing over, I'd praise JJ for the ACT of blasting H... I wouldn't go into a frenzy over how much I despised him
So would I. I'd take Pence, Barbour, DeMint, Thune, and hundreds of others before Romney... that's not the point of this thread. He blasts H and urges others to do so as well. He's speaking out, when many other GOPers are too afraid. That ACT, regardless of how you feel about him, should be encouraged, not discouraged.
If they went unanswered, especially given that they gleefully spread things like Mitt's little “adamantly” bit, then exactly what does that say about Freepers as defenders of Conservative ideals.
And yes, many of us ‘fear” Romney, he has too much money and is playing himself as something he's not. We fear him enough that we expend a goodly amount of effort exposing him and his team here, and else where.
As some have pointed out when they go off on "purity" etc. bit, we may have to compromise at the end of the day, but it does not mean we start the morning by rolling over and playing dead so other may choose our leadership for us.
I disagree strongly with plutarch on Romney, but I don’t think I’ve ever seen him bash Palin.
