"Believe in a cruel God makes a cruel man."
-Thomas Paine
Yeah- it sure would- however- warning people of their sin is not cruel- keeping silent and turnign a blind eye, so that hte person never udnerstands their sin is however a cruel thing because that person is bound for an eternity of suffering
NOT Warning a child not to touch a hot stove because you’re afraid you might offend their delicate sense of self, is an act of cruelty when you KNOW the stove is hot and coudl harm that child.
Christ is giving a warnign to all that He is coming back to purge this world of sin- He is giving FAIR warnign to one and all when He states: Mt. 10:34-36 Think not that I am come to send peace on the earth; I came not to send peace, but a sword. 35. For I am come to set a man at variance against his father, and the daughter against her mother, and the daughter-in-law against her mother-in-law. 36. And a mans foes shall be they of his own household.
Is Christ being ‘cruel’ here? Has He not informed peopl;e BEFORE His return what He intends to do? Shall we just cut out all Christ’s and God’s and the Apostles and Prophet’s warnings in advance because it might offend people’s delicate sensibilities?
