Foreign Minister Avigdor Lieberman on Thursday belittled the global focus on the growth of Israeli communities in Judea and Samaria, and said there would be no more unilateral concessions to the Palestinian Authority.

"It is not a coincidence that since [the] Oslo [Accords] we have not reached the end of the conflict," Lieberman said, addressing a gathering of Druze supporters in the Arab city of Shfaram. The meeting was held at the home of Hamad Amar, a Knesset Member representing Lieberman's Israel Beiteinu party. In the last Knesset elections, the mixed Druze, Christian and Muslim Shfaram gave Israel Beiteinu 14.4% of the vote.

From the article ....

"North Korea is firing missiles and we are continuing to deal with that little house in Judea and Samaria?" Lieberman asked sharply. "Against the backdrop of events in Tehran, should this be the top priority of the global community?"

The title of the article is:

“Lieberman: We Are Always Loved When We Make Concessions”

Makes one wonder if the reporter was attemping to confuse or mislead the readers...

Because in the article he writes that Israel’s Foreign Minister Avigdor Lieberman actually said...

(The Foreign Minister said) that the Netanyahu administration is prepared to take responsibility for negotiating an end to the Arab-Israeli conflict. However, he said, “taking responsibility does not mean always making concessions.” Past Israeli concessions in negotiations with the Palestinian Authority have not had positive results, Lieberman observed, “even though we are always loved when we make concessions...

I can think of no better expression of the absurdity of our policy. Obama assumes the posture of the bully. He is brave in facing our friends, and bossing them around, but fearful of our enemies, and tries to sweet talk them.

I see it as a criticism of the current US posture and mission. Foolishly looking for love instead of focusing on the real threats to peace.

Peace processes are difficult but always better than no process at all. Negotiations are good. Concessions are good. But “unilateral concessions” are no different from “surrender”.

I feel that the international community has bought into what some strategists are pushing in that the Israeli and Palestinian conflict must be settled before anything else can take place in the middle east. Arab leaders look to scapegoat Israel in an attempt to avoid having to face their own problems, and they have sold this naive concept to the international community.

I am fearful that we will finally come to the realization when it is too late. Reminds me of the Harry Potter episode when the Chairman of the Ministry of Magic is standing in hall that is completely destroyed and say “he's back” in disbelief. Well folks, the esteemed Iranian leader has been publicly calling for the destruction of Israel for the last 5 years and no one seems to care or notice. I hope to God we don't have someone from our State Department standing on the ruins of Tel Aviv stating the same.
