Why should real citizens have one?

Because you actually want to get ahead in life.

Libs want to make sure these peons stay peons.

Not good enough. If I'm pulled without a license, there are penalties, points and fines. Some illegal goober gets away - with NOTHING?

Not good enough.

Sorry. That's all I got.

Run your driver's license through a shredder and get back to me in 6 months and update me how your life has changed.

If I may engage in a little prophesying, your update will begin with, "You were right, Mr. Eagle...."

“Why should real citizens have one?”

Because they’ll out you in jail. Welcome to the world that California has been living. And be sure to thank the amnesty-loving open border politicians who have brought this to you. From both Parties.

The Texas Eagle is shootin' BLANKS? If an undocumented, unlicensed illegal immigrant gets away, I can only assume you're USED to it already.

Blanks? I hit the target dead center in the bullseye.

The last thing Libs want is for peons to rise above peon-hood.

And if you get rid of your driver's license, you will be a peon your own self before you know it.

Actually, I hit the bullseyes twice.

BUT! If illegals don't NEED one (saving on fees, eye checks and waiting time) AND the coppers aren't requiring one, why HAVE one?

I feel like we're on a Merry-go-round.

I understand what you are getting at. The only real way to change this is if you and millions of your fellow Tennesseans (are there millions of Tennesseans?) is to pull and Atlas Shrugged type maneuver and get rid of all your driver's licenses en masse. But how likely is that?

I'm not condoning or endorsing what the police are doing, I'm just addressing your question.

I think what Texas Eagle means is that you use your driver’s license for a lot of other things than getting around in a car. Get rid of your driver’s license and try to cash a check or purchase with a credit card, for example. Little conveniences that suddenly become hassles.

That’s how I look at it.

I wish the Feds would wise up and start enforcing the border and sending whatever law breakers they can back to their native countries, but that doesn’t seem to be happening any time soon.

Little conveniences that suddenly become hassles.

And the difference in demeanor from the folks you're dealing with when you can't produce one (a driver's license).

Thanks for the assist.

I understand Libby's outrage. We've been dealing with this in California for decades.

If these uppity illegals are forced to obey the law they might actually get ahead in life and then who will pick the salmonella tainted lettuce? Or was that cabbage?

Whatever. You get my drift. These are guaranteed RAT votes. Nothing must get in the way of that.

The change is good news to advocates who have complained from the beginning, in spring 2007, that the focus of the local immigration enforcement program is misplaced on people who are only committing traffic infractions.

Ahh, the old "only committing ________" fallacy.

This completely ignores the underlying violations that this is part and parcel of.

First, they are here illegally.

Second, unless they have independent means of support, they are working illegally.

Third they were not just asked for their license randomly; they had to have committed another violation to be stopped in the first place...or maybe was it a drunk driving accident.

Fourth, without a license, they also can't obtain required insurance coverages to protect ME from their "indigent" selves.

Fifth, there are most likely tax evasion and other issues involved as well; and in many cases, it is far from their first offense.

This makes no sense. In TN, we give out drivers licenses to anyone regardless of their documentation. About the only way you CAN’T get a license here is if you’ve had it revoked and in that case, Memphis City Councilwoman Janice Fullilove can hook you up.

So how will the police know if a blond blue eyed Mexican is an illegal or not?

Perhaps by PROFILING??
