Sarkozy: Israel Strike On Iran Would Be Catastrophe
Haaretz ^ | 10 July 2009 | Haaretz & Reuters

A unilateral attack by Israel against Iran to thwart the Islamic republic's nuclear ambitions would be an "absolute catastrophe," AFP quoted French President Nicolas Sarkozy as warning on Thursday.

Sarkozy was speaking after a summit of the Group of Eight and other leaders in Italy at which they agreed on the need to pursue a negotiated deal with Tehran to halt its nuclear program.

"We made an effort to agree not to strengthen sanctions straightaway in order to bring everyone on board. The more reserved amongst us agreed that Pittsburgh (in September) was the time for decisions," said Sarkozy.

Just keep kicking it down the road.....see what happens.

Only for Iran.

But if Ahmadinenutcase orders Nuzrallah to attack Israel, both sides will suffer the catastrophe.

The nuke reactor sites will suffer a catastrophic fate if the IAF acquired Raptors (LOL).

A nuclear arm Iran would be a bigger catastrophe.

No one doubts that an attack on Iran would present enormous problems. But Israel is an ally and a democracy and, as Netanyahu said, if Israel is the “little Satan,” America is the “great Satan.” But what’s the alternative? A nuclear arsenal in the hands of a bunch of dark age, apocalyptic mullahs who believe Allah would support such a “holy war” and jihad against the infidel? Once acquired, a nuclear arsenal would give Iran hegemony over the whole region and enable them to export their technology to rogue states and terrorists around the world. It strikes me that almost anything would be better than that. And, with all due respect for Sarkozy and the EU, they LOVE that faithful trading partner, Iran!

The President of France is basing his opinion on history and the fact that France was able to successfully negotiate with Hitler thereby preventing a second world war. What? The negotiations were not successful? Attached below is my 9/30/07 comment on the article which quoted Iran as stating they would not negotiate. —

“Let’s see now, all the leaders of the West are saying that it would be an absolute catastrophe for Iran to have nuclear capability. Iran says the issue is closed. The West via the pathetic UN tried sanctions against Iraq that never worked. Hummmmmmmm. This is a tough one. BOMB NOW! “I’m licking my chops in anticipation of being able to watch Shock & Awe - the Sequel. I think it will be better than Shock & Awe I.”

Of course we will now never see S&A II because we now have a eunuch as commander in chief. The jug eared clodhopper probably won’t even back Israel when it finally does the right thing and bombs the nuclear facility of Adolph Hitler, Jr., and all the other rabid muslim fanatics in Iran.

The Wehrmacht in two years, conquered all of Western Europe and lost only 30,000 troops in the process. That’s less than the casualties at Gettysburg. Nobody, no army on earth in 1940, could’ve held off the Germans under the conditions that the French faced. The bigger catastrophe would be for the only real democracy in the middle east to fall. Israel will not listen to zero, they will attack Iran when the time is right. And it won’t be a half-assed job like zero would do either.

“Sarkozy: Israel Strike On Iran Would Be Catastrophe”

The ‘Bama is giving Israel no alternative, making such a unilateral strike necessary.

Fair point. It is an undeniable lesson of Military history that the German army in WWII completely outclassed all others. We should cut the French some slack.

Sarkozy: Israel Strike On Iran Would Be Catastrophe

Yes it would be - for the Iranians!

I don't know why the Europeans are so blase about living under an Iranian nuclear umbrella. What will Sarkozy do when the mullahs threaten to nuke Paris over some perceived slight to islam?

The jug eared clodhopper probably won’t even back Israel when it finally does the right thing...

That's the only aspect of this entire drama that we can know with absolute certainty.

“they will attack Iran when the time is right” I agree, that is why I am putting some money on the side and waiting for the attack, then the stock market will drop sharply and I will buy as much as I can. I already have a list of sound companies and am just waiting for the right moment.

An Iran with rocket technology will be very bad also. The mullas don’t like the devil’s television being beamed down from geostationary orbit. To obliterate all satellites in this orbit all you have to do is send up a bunch of small metal chunks into geostationary orbit going THE WRONG WAY. No more geostationary satellites for several hundred thousands years after that. That’s how long it takes for this kind of orbit to end.

People have forgotten how awful nukes are. Sadly, they will have to relearn the lessons of history. We like to think that the USA is invincible—that one American can beat ten of any other nations soldiers. In are in for a terrible surprise—just as we were at Pearl Harbor and Bataan. In time we will have to take out Iran.
