BARACK OBAMA AT THE WORLD SERIES OF POKER
boblonsberry.com ^ | 07/10/09 | Bob Lonsberry

I don’t play poker, but I think I get the idea.

I think the idea is to win. I think the idea is to have better cards than your opponents and to play your cards better than your opponents.

It’s part luck and it’s part smarts.

But the idea, again, is to win.

For example, let’s say you’re playing a five-card game, nothing showing. You’re dealt the cards, you pick them up, you fan them out.

You see an ace, another ace, a king, an ace and another ace. Four aces and a king.Like I said, I don’t play poker, but I think that’s a good hand. Probably, when you pick those cards up, you should try to look bored, maybe even disappointed, as if you’ve got a hand like a foot.

You should do that in order to get the other players to bet against you. Let them bet and raise until they’re blue in the face. You just sit there, seemingly wrestling with the decision to fold or play, letting somebody else look like they’re holding the hot cards.

And then, when they’ve bet all their going to bet, you lay down your cards and blow them away.

I think that’s how you play poker.

Unless you’re Barack Obama.

If you’re Barack Obama, based on his recent behavior, if you’re dealt four aces and a king you immediately take two or three of the aces and throw them back in, announcing, “It’s not fair, I have too good a hand. I’ll get rid of my high cards. I want us to be even.”That’s what he’d do.

And that’s how you lose.

I base my surmisal of Barack Obama’s poker playing on his arms negotiating. When it comes to that, he’s all about giving up the advantage.

This week, in Russia, looking into the face of a country that spent half a century wanting to blow us to bits, and which even now opposes us at every turn, Barack Obama threw in the aces.

See, if there’s one thing we do well in America – beyond reality TV – it’s nuclear explosives. Missiles, artillery shells, bombs – you name it, we can make it. Actually, we can’t make it, but our dads could. Back a generation or so, before spines and testicles were outlawed, America armed itself. Our attitude was that if you were going to do it to us, we were going to do it to you times 10.

It sounds harsh, but it worked. For that half a century the Russians wanted to kill us, they didn’t, because we threatened to vaporize all their vodka, and the blood it was circulating in. In the spirit of Teddy Roosevelt, we made ourselves a really big stick. And because it was so big, we never had to use it.Except for those two little booms on Pearl Harbor Payback Days 1 and 2.

Anyway, while we don’t have our fathers’ Oldsmobile anymore, we do have their bombs. And we have more of them than anybody else. We have more than the Russians, more than the Chinese, more than anybody.

That’s why we are, for another 30 minutes, the world’s lone remaining superpower.

They are our four aces and the king.

And Barack Obama is giving them away.

Democrats have always wanted to do that. Democrats are like the guy drilling holes in the boat while you’re bailing out water. We’re trying to defend our country, they’re giving away our weapons.

It’s been that way for almost 50 years. They’ve always said we have too many weapons, that the United States must disarm, that the world is less stable when America is armed.

We’re supposed to pretend that’s not treasonous. We’re supposed to pretend that their motivation is anything other than their hatred of America.

But back to the now.

The Democrats finally have one of their own true-blue hardcore believers in the Oval Office and, though it took him six months, he’s begun the gutting of America’s nuclear defense. His goal is nuclear disarmament.

In the poker analogy, disarmament is like throwing in two aces, then the king, then the two other aces, ordering drinks for the table and putting them on your mother’s Visa card, standing up, dropping your drawers, turning around, grabbing your ankles and shouting, “Soo-wee! Pig, pig! Soo-wee, soo-wee, soo-wee!”

In a face-to-face with Putin’s puppet of the day, Barack Obama not only agreed to cut America’s nuclear advantage, he also capitulated to a Russian demand that American non-nuclear strategic weapons also be included in disarmament talks.

That means he wants to give away all our bombs, even the ones that don’t make you glow.

Not surprisingly, China immediately said this is a good idea.

That’s because China wants to wring our necks. Not surprisingly, all our military rivals applauded Barack Obama’s move. Not surprisingly, all our military allies texted one another, “WTF?”

In an era when America is crippled by debt and lack of manufacturing base, when we have no industry and no credit – and consequently no ability to fight a sustained war – when we have been almost fought to a standstill in two small, regional conflicts, when imbecilic North Korea proves that it can shut down our government computers at will, Barack Obama is giving away the aces.

When we lose our nuclear advantage, we become a sitting duck.

Iran and North Korea are building nukes, you know China is building nukes, smart money says Russia is also building nukes, and we are getting rid of ours. As we enter a potentially perilous period, Barack Obama wants to disarm.

Which gets back to our motto: When Democrats are in charge, stupid things happen.

And nothing is stupider than throwing away your country’s last and best defense.

But that’s exactly what Barack Obama is doing. Maybe he thinks he can negotiate a better government health insurance option with the Chinese Central Committee than he can with the American Congress.

Maybe, in the conflict of the future, he doesn’t really want us to win.

Other than blowing the heads off 3 Somalian pirates, I haven't agreed with a single thing this moron has done in his 6 months, including his choice of Broadway plays on "Date Night".

No "maybes" about it. He wants America to lose - at everything.

Obama is a calling station and has his teleprompter at the table. He’s easy pickins.

He’s on TV right now talking like he is looking out for the “world’s” best interest and saying more countries should be included in “G8”. He wants African and South American despots to have equal weight on these policy setting committees with the US. He wants to be president of the world. 0 is destroying our advantage every chance he gets.

There’s no doubt in my military mind about THAT!

If you can’t spot the sucker at the table.....YOUR THE SUCKER. Barack goes to the table to try and push around and bully people thinking he’s the smartest guy in the room....Meanwhile he’s being taken....

But the idea, again, is to win.

Another practice of a good poker player is to count cards. Casinos dont like card counters, and why should they? Card counters lower the house's odds to make money.
If people start wising up to all the corruption in the government, by counting cards and getting the information out there with Glen Beck, TEA parties, etc. maybe, just maybe there is some hope for this country.

And that was a flagrant violation of a truce, during which the leader of the pirates was in custody.
Effective, yes. Immoral, also yes.

If you think there was ANYTHING immoral about what our SEAL snipers did, then you and I, sir, have a problem. You have and honor truces with nations, militaries, even identifiable bands of “insurgents” if they wear uniforms and respect the laws of war (ie don’t target and/or hide behind civilians).

You do not have a truce with gun totting hostage holding pirate scum except as a ploy, and you certainly have NO moral obligation whatsoever to honor such a truce!

Actually Obama had nothing to do with the successful outcome of the hostage crisis, and the rules of engagement were very stifling and contrary to what normal ones would be. Who ever heard of a naval armada sitting 600’ off a small boat with no permission to act? Until they took the initiative contrary to Obama’s wishes, and shot at the very moment one of the pirates pointed a gun at the captain hostage...

While the author makes a good point about Barack giving away the strengths of the U.S. while getting nothing in return, the author's poker analogy is flawed.

If I was playing poker and was dealt four aces and a king, I might find myself wondering whether the deck had been stacked and my opponent had managed to deal himself a straight flush.

Poker is less about what you do when you have an overwhelmingly strong hand and more about what you do in the majority of hands where you may or may not have a winning edge.

The luck of the cards can favor any player. Skill at poker requires the playing of hundreds or even thousands of hands and the ability to win more or lose less than your opponent would do with the same hand.

If you apply the proper poker analogy to Obama, you realize that it matters little what Obama does in any particular instance, as long as he consistently outplays our nation's opponents. Unfortunately, I think our opponents are chuckling to themselves over what a push over Obama is. It will be to their advantage to play many hands and to raise the stakes sooner rather than later.

He parachuted onto the ship to do that?

Actually, to avoid the consquences of a mistaken call, he had to issue "take no action" orders with enough wriggle room that the US Navy Captain could interpret them proactively.

I disagree. I think zero thought he’d issued total “no action” orders with fluff for the MSM to spin. Being a neophyte with no respect for the military, he didn’t understand that the captain would be smart enough to use that fluff to enable action, which is exactly what the captain did.

And then the MSM spun it to give zero all the credit (or tried to).

To extend the poker analogy to the pirate issue, zero was playing 5 card draw, drew trip 10s, mucked two of those, and accidentally drew a royal flush. And the MSM gushed about how great a poker player he was...

Well, “take no action, unless imminent threat to hostage” put him in the clear (and threw the blame on the military for not reacting fast enough) if the hostage had been killed. The USN captain just had a less constrained interpretation of “imminent threat”
