Iranians prepared for another violent day of confrontations between demonstrators and security forces on Friday, after riot police used tear-gas against hundreds of demonstrators who defied government warnings and swarmed the streets to commemorate the anniversary of a student massacre in 1999.

The resistance has begun and is growing--

"But what really amazed me," said one protester in a phone interview from Teheran, "is that we stood by each other. Many of us selflessly helped our brothers and sisters out on the streets."

This is a worthwhile read. Some pretty amazing stuff. This is not dieing down.

Maybe we could get some of that spirit in DC...

We are: TEX PAYER REVOLT IN WASHINGTON DC 9/10-9/12/2009

As to the Iranian situation...it continues to grow and would be a God-send to any patriotic American president...but not to the marxist Obama.

We must not interfere with the dictators staying in power. Dont you know it is meddling in their internal affairs? The Democrats are all ready deeply saddened that the dictator was removed in Iraq.

Its interesting that foreing embassies are not helping the victims of these bastards.

Either the Iranian government will call in the military and they will disperse the crowds or the military will join them and kick out the present rulers. But as long as they are satisfied with a theocracy run by mullahs, this situation of oppression will continue, except under another name.

From the LA Times-

Here is another report about the demonstrations yesterday and if the comments from readers at the bottom of the page are correct (suspect they are) this is what the crowd is saying:

“MOJTABA, WE HOPE YOU DIE, BEFORE YOU RECIEVE THE SUPREME LEADER POSITION”

Until the Iranian people start getting guns & lots of ammo, they don’t have a chance. This will end the same way it ended in Hungary, China & Burma.

Well, if the crowds are chanting for Mojtabas’ death, then this is definitely new video, as the news about him being the one in charge of the Govt crackdown just hit all over the web within the last 48 hours.

I am not sure.

It is possible that more of the Clerics could bolt and if that happened the military might change sides. (Military not the Militia who is loyal to Khomeini) That would change everything.

The foreign element in the Militia have contributed to the feeling of rebellion. Lebanese Hezbollah and other “Arab” speaking Mulslims.

I stated earlier about twitter contacts with some in Persia that although I sent a prayer to them in Farsi, they responded in Arabic. That tells me that at least 2 of those who responded to my message, were Arab not Persian.

This started out as a disputed election, but now I think the Persians feel so betrayed by the leadership, that now I think it is about freedom. That is probably good.
