Good Intentions Aside, Are We Killing the Patient? (Obama killing the economy)
New York Times ^ | July 11, 2009 | Ben Stein

Posted on 07/12/2009 7:03:33 AM PDT by reaganaut1

...

What is President Obama doing about [the recession]? Perhaps too much. And, possibly, his efforts are too diffuse. When I think about the economy I think about a plump man who has just been hit by a truck while crossing a street and is in severely critical condition with internal bleeding. Instead of just stabilizing his hemorrhaging, the doctor decides that while the patient is unconscious, he might as well also do a face lift, some coronary bypasses and a stomach-stapling to keep him from gaining weight while he is recovering (if he does recover). After all, a crisis is not to be wasted.

The problem is that all these ambitious operations create too much of a burden for the human body to bear.

Similarly, we have an administration that is simultaneously seeking to end the recession, discussing drastic changes to laws on foreclosures and energy use and completely changing the health care system. I respectfully question whether all of this makes sense.

I don’t believe we need to do something radical about energy, but even assuming that we do, why do it right now? Do we need to take one of the few sectors that is working like clockwork through the recession — oil refining — and wring its neck by making it pay for pollution “cap and trade” credits? Why attack a healthy industry when so many other sectors are ill? What is all of this anger at Big Oil, which has not done anything blameworthy, all about? Why endlessly beat up the companies that keep the country going?

All history is the history of class struggle, as Marx said, and I suspect that the rage of the news media and academic classes against the oil industry is a form of class struggle.

Who believes Obama's intentions are good?

At best, Obama's intentions are to centralize as much power as possible into his own hands. Eventually, to use that power to become a Chavez-style 'President for Life'. If Obama believes he can do this, he'll try.

At worst, Obama is a marxist radical, who hates America as part of his own psychodrama of Father and Mother abandonment and wants to destroy the United States as a free, prosperous, constitutional country.

Where is any evidence at all of Obama's 'good intentions'? The Porkulus Bill was the largest bribe in the history of the world to pay off his political supporters in government around the country. This had nothing to do will 'stimulating' the economy or creating jobs for Americans.

Obama has said that the Porkulus has worked as intended. Obama himself has put his intentions on the table as a matter for dissection. Obama knew what the Porkulus bill was about, where the money went and what its purpose was. It did what it was intended to do.

Stein flacked HARD for a bailout of the auto industry.

Then he’s shocked when that bailout includes the nationalization of GM & federal mandates up the whazoo.

Leaving me to conclude that either he is dumb or he thinks we are.

Stein is caught in that liberal Jew guilt quandary of rooting for the poor oppressed transformational obama

but his economic sense is resisting the obvious signs of the man’s incompetence or malfeasance

I used to enjoy watching Stein on FOX business, but now it is just painful

Hell yea they’re killing the patient, for GOD sakes if your patient is bleeding to death and you can’t stop the bleeding, you at least need to give them a little blood.

So far the patient has received none.

Since when is the object of murder a “patient”? Obama’s plan all along has been to destroy the economy and replace it with global totalitarian marxism.

And there are numerous evidences of this agenda! The new 'Science Czar', Holdern, is a pernicious globalist whose own words in speeches are now being put into force with the cap and tax bill the democrat House recently passed, designed to tax our world into serfdom to the oligarchy which Obama and his henchghouls will eventually reveal to be a world-wide 'change'.

One hallmark is Holdern's belief that population controls are a vital part of 'winning the war on man-made global warming'. When the people give power to such despotic minds, those empowered use their newfound might to enslave their 'lessers'.

The signs of despotism are growing at such an alarming pace they even hard for moderates to ignore!

Or, in other words, let’s take government’s foot off the oxygen tube.

The patient better have enough oxygen to last at least till 2010...cause the "Sheila Jackson Lees, Pelosi's, Obama's" are heavy on that tube....

“Stein is caught in that liberal Jew guilt quandary of rooting for the poor oppressed transformational obama”

Stein is caught by the fact that he voted for 0bama, and still finds him personally appealing even though he hates some of his policies...

I have never been able to understand how such a large portion of the American Jewish community gave reflex support for Democrat candidates. Will this administration rupture that? Think about what happens on Daily KOS and other sites.

Referring to that, look at this snippet concerning the self described Kossack’s of Daily KOS-

http://zombietime.com/lgf_dictionary/

“Kossack - A denizen who frequents the Web site Daily Kos, known for it left-wing activism and its irascible Webmaster Markos Moulitsas Zuniga.

Politically, a Kossack is almost the direct opposite of a lizardoid. Kossacks deride LGF as a “hate site” because of the frank and unapologetic assessment of Islam frequently expressed by LGFers; lizardoids regard Kossacks as among the leading proponents of “leftist fascism,” characterized by bullying, dirty tricks, illogical discussions, and an irrational hatred of everything to the right of Noam Chomsky.

The name “Kossack” references the Cossacks, an old spelling of the ethnic group now known as Kazaks. When Russia absorbed Kazakstan into its empire, the Czar used Muslim Kazaks as a special cavalry due to their expert horsemanship and reputation for savage violence.

Cossacks often were the perpetrators of horrific pogroms against Jews in Russian territory during the Czarist era.”

Can the U.S. Jewish community not see what they are supporting and doing? We have many Jewish Freepers and they are not like this, but so many are.

Tradgedy!

Stein's prescription is to put the frog back on slow broil. I prefer Obama's "shotgun" approach. I'll take the hard times as long as, in exchange, I see economic traitors sent to prison and hunted with dogs, and liberalism/collectivism discredited for centuries.

No, I think Obama should just keep on keepin' on.
