Call me indifferent.

But after reading just a few of the racist-fueled comments aimed at 11-year-old Malia Obama's fashion choices on the "conservative" "news" site FreeRepublic.com, I was neither shocked nor surprised. A little confused maybe -- as in, what's so bad about a little girl wearing a peace sign? Do Republicans hate peace? Wasn't Jesus a pacifist? Isn't that the point of the whole "WWJD?" movement?

Forgive the repetition, but I hate to say that nut-bag blog comments constitute hate speech. The Freepers mindless mouth vomit felt less like shouting fire in a crowded theatre and more like splashing gasoline on an already burning tug boat. Speech that incites violence is one thing, speech that reinforces stereotypes about a certain group of people--in this case, barefoot, cousin-marrying, gun-toting, "conservatives" -- See, doesn't it just make you cringe? -- is another. One is illegal and the other, well, we'll call it Fox News.

Cute how she effortlessly weaves her hatred for patriotism and Christianity into her snotty little rant.

Why do I get the feeling that liberals are filled with hate for Christianity, America, freedom, conservatism, FR, me?

Although I didn't see the comments about Malia, I suspect that those not-so-nice comments were posted by liberals to divert attention away from vicious Huffington Post and Daily Kos posts about Sarah Palin and her children.

It's an old and tired trick... casting a new victim in an attempt to cover up what many were appalled at.

Using innocent children Trig and Malia is rotten.

Curious to watch the left’s efforts to tag all those who disagree with them as “racists”. When our kid was six years old, he would be like that- do something, deny it, and blame everyone else for doing what he did. He’s outgrown that now that he is eight.

Apparently Miss Andrews is a newbie to this whole InterWeb thingy and people posting comments on political issues as she completely missed the spew that has originated from sites such as Daily Kos and Democrat Underground for the previous eight years.

Now those are textbook examples of hate speech.

I didn’t see any of the comments she mentioned but I typically don’t spend much time on those kinds of threads.

Hatred is the first tool of choice for the intellectually challenged word smiths of today with public school educations.

Hatred is also the basest of emotions commonly found in small minded people (least common denominator) with limited emotional capacity.

I didn't post a comment on that thread, but I understand why people would be upset. Go back to the late 60s and early 70s. The "peace sign" displayed by violent rioters. Young people chanting anti-American and antimilitary slogans while they destroy private and public property. I still see it as the "Track of the American Chicken" - and I don't recall in the Gospels anything about the Christ being an antiwar pacifist.
