Lawsuit seeks to block 'In God We Trust' engraving (on Capitol Visitor Center in DC)

MADISON, Wis. – The nation's largest group of atheists and agnostics filed a lawsuit Tuesday seeking to block an architect from engraving "In God We Trust" and the Pledge of Allegiance at the Capitol Visitor Center in Washington.

The Madison-based Freedom From Religion Foundation's lawsuit, filed in U.S. District Court in western Wisconsin, claims the taxpayer-funded engravings would be an unconstitutional endorsement of religion.

The House and Senate passed identical resolutions this month directing the Architect of the Capitol to engrave "In God We Trust" and the pledge in prominent places at the entrance for 3 million tourists who visit the Capitol each year.

The resolution came in response to critics who complained Congress spent $621 million on the new three-story underground center without paying respect to the nation's religious heritage. The center opened in December after years of construction.

The foundation is seeking a court order to stop the engravings, which the Congressional Budget Office estimates will cost less than $100,000.

I have never had many problems with atheists myself. You share your beliefs with them and they say, “what a nice fairy tale”, and that is about it. Agnostics, on the other hand try to tare down just about anything regarding faith, but somehow think they are still going to heaven.

This group of libtard heathens are a pox on Wisconsin. We have a lot of libtards here, but the “freedom from religion” (hey libtards, it’s freedom OF religion) is the worst of the lot. Oh wait, there’s the baby killers at Planned Child Murder, so they are many times worse. Oh wait, the freedom to take our religion group are also pro-baby killer, so they’re just all a bunch of evil turds in the bowl of life.

He may have, I can’t remember. It seems he was involved in something from back there somewhere. This sounds like it would be right down his alley.

The problem with atheists and their viewpoint is that this stuff is all over the place and they’re still atheists.

"Lawsuit seeks to block 'In God We Trust' engraving (on Capitol Visitor Center in DC)"

The Obama Administration wants to replace it with "Death To America."

They have a sympathetic ear in the White House now.

Resident Obamah has already intentionally hidden or covered any Christian symbolism that happens to be in the frame of view in all his media coverage.

If it isn't African Nationalism, Michelle and Barry aren't really that interested.

Why don't atheists take a page from the “gay marriage” activists and simply redefine “God” to mean “that which we trust”? It would render the slogan into a simple tautology, which no one could disagree with.

How about all the unconstitutional taxpayer funded welfare handouts, abortions, bailouts and pork projects that the government partakes in?

If something like this could pass judicial muster, why can’t all the other heinous crimes this Federal government commits, be held to the same standard?

I am totally ashamed to say that I was born in that city in 1939.

It has become a total Communist area.
