WASHINGTON (AP) - President Barack Obama achieved a milestone Wednesday when a Senate committee approved a plan to revamp the U.S. health care system. The Senate panel's action, which attracted no Republican votes, came as the president's campaign organization rolled out television ads to build support for his top domestic priority.
Obama met with Republicans at the White House in search of an elusive bipartisan compromise on his call to expand coverage to the nearly 50 million uninsured Americans as well as restrain spending increases in health care.
But the 13-10 party-line vote in the Senate health committee signaled a deepening rift in Congress. While Democrats respond to Obama's call for action with renewed determination, Republicans are using harsher words to voice their misgivings.

If a million people marched on D.C. this would make a huge statement. Obama is calculating on our reactions before we do it...how can we surprise him?
I don’t believe you’ll see him revamping a plan for his trial lawyer friends. Lawyers cost more to our society than health care.

The average guys needs to get off his ass and take chances. Conservatives have always used the excuse ( to some exten true ) thta we have jobs and have no time to protest. Right now the US government is out of control . We are on a crash course with destruction. Obama , the marxist, is moving so fast people can;t even figure out what he’s doing. It’s time for serious civil unrest. I am not a good organizer but I’m ready to dedicate time and money to a REAL organization that is ready to take this country back. We need to focus on specific people and let our voices be heard , every day , all the time. Tea Parties are family outings . I’m talking action that you wouldn’t want the wife and kids to attend.
If everyone on here promised to make anti Nation Health Care posters and hang them all over the place tomorrow that will be a small start.
I say We organize and get the brave out there and hit the offices of our senators and create havoc. Once the ball gets rolling more will join and get the balls to create a scene. I’d say more but I don’t want to get banned from FR nor do I need ACORN at my door in the morning.
Our very lives depend on what we do in the next months..

I want to say it again. The same type of people who work at the Post Office, DMV and Assessor's office will have control over your healthcare and work for the government as M.D.’s. Think Walter Reed on steroids... This is BAD.
My daughter tells me the Republicans got an amendment added that says all the congress people and their staff have to use the obamacare as their health plan. We both agree it is a great idea. She thinks it means they will make the government health care super good and I think it means they will never pass it. Then again it only passed because some of the democrats voted for the amendment so maybe the dems have actually drank their own coolaid and will be dumb enough to pass it anyway.
And the rest of us have to suffer through it as well.
The Republicans are just as bad, don’t count on thm, they will sell out. We need civil unrest or else Obama will do as he pleases. I have litlte hope to be honest . We’ll sit and bitch on here and do nothing . I ‘m gearing up to put posters all over my town and I’m looking for an aggressive group willing to do whats necessary.
I don’t know how to reach people on this issue. Even my own kids have been sucked in by the obamabots. My daughter has health problems and keeps getting turned down for insurance, but now she thinks obamacare is the answer. I blame myself partly. Ive depended on medicare a lot since my stroke and my daughter points to that and says everyone deserves something at least as good. Ive decided to stop going to the doctor to try and set a better example. I wish I could send back my social security check but I just cant stretch the money that far. We are sliding into socialism and seems like the entire younger generation is leading the charge.
This must be stopped.
Ive tried to warn my kids about the slide into socialism but it doesnt seem to sink in. I think it was a mistake to let my daughter be a foreign exchange student. She spent a couple of years in europe and came back with all sorts of crazy ideas, going on about how healthy and happy they are and how we should have universal health care and free college education and all that. I warn her about socialism and she looks at me like Im the crazy one. What is with the young people now days?
