Incumbent Governor Rick Perry has jumped to a 10-point lead over Senator Kay Bailey Hutchison in an early look at next year’s Republican Primary gubernatorial contest in Texas.

A new Rasmussen Reports telephone survey of likely GOP Primary voters in the state finds Perry ahead of Hutchison 46% to 36%. Five percent (5%) prefer some other candidate, and 14% remain undecided.

She’s not worried.

ACORN will steal it for her.

Yes, but Perry isn’t any prize either. Too bad voters are like junior high school students who vote on the basis of name recognition and the perception of who is “cool”.

There are many thousands of Texans no one has heard of who would do a better job than either the blonde airhead or Tex Perry. Unfortunately, understanding the issues and voting on the basis of those is too much to ask, so we get to choose between dumb and dumber.

Michael Williams will be a big improvement.

TX is an open primary. Hard to predict the race from a poll of Republicans.

I've heard talk that Karl Rove will head up the campaign for KBH. Stay tuned.

Here’s another example of DC changing the politician and not the other way around. Kay was solid in the beginning but she slid toward RINO’ism later on in DC land.

It’s very sad that KBH has gone to the dark rino side. I will be voting for Perry. KBH is a sell-out and so is Karl Rove if he supports her.

Rove has helped her in previous campaigns. Not sure if he would be the manager but may well take on an advisory role.

Will republicans ever be smart enough to do away with open primaries? That’s how democrats gave us Juan McCain!

It's a damn shame we are going to reelect a guy who has done nothing for 10 years, who was still a democrat in the 90's, long after most others had come over, and who would have never gotten the job if he hadn't been Lt Gov when Bush went to Washington. Anyone who votes for this fool needs to shut up about term limits and the reelection of fools in other states.

25,000,000 people and not one who would be better????!!!

Incumbent Governor Rick Perry has jumped to a 10-point lead over Senator Kay Bailey Hutchison

...And that's before Sarah even crosses the Red River to campaign for Perry.

Turn the lights out Kay...

KBH made this race personal for me when she decided to make snarky comments about Sarah Palin. It’s sad really because I was willing to hear what she had to say and consider her for the office.

But ... she took off the gloves and now it’s ON! I’m dedicating as much time, money, and effort as I can reasonbly spare to ensure her defeat.

I am cataloguing every vote she made that was bad for Texas into a relational database that I will provide to Perry’s campaign. His campaign staff will be able to nail her on issues that concern Texans by quickly analyzing her votes. I hope the tool makes an impact.

I told her if she voted for the bailout that I’d send her home. She’s not running for re-election as a senator so I’ll focus my efforts on seeing her lose the governor’s race.

She ticked me off. This one’s personal.

Yep that will be interesting to see the outcome if that does in fact happen.

She ticked me off big-time 10+ yrs. ago during the impeachment crap. I haven't voted for her since. The Palin stuff just pissed me off even more.

I won't underestimate her though. The country-clubbers love her with their money and she's a proven vote-getter who got more votes than Bush in 2000 when he was at the top of the ticket.

I think this race will be a key indicator of anti-RINO resentment in the GOP.

I am not a fan of Rick Perry, and I used to be a fan of Kay, but Kay’s been compromised in DC. She has gone over to the dark side. So I guess I’ll be voting for the empty suit Mr. Goodhair. Or maybe I’ll just skip this election have a beer and watch the results on TV. However if Sarah comes to Texas and says vote for Perry I will.

Well Kinky has been making waves about running again this time as a democrat.

The impact of Palin will be interesting if Perry does bring her down here. It could go either way for him and I have no idea which but Texans as a rule are independent cusses and don’t cater to foreigners meddling in their business. Endorsing him is one thing whereas campaigning on Texas soil is another.

KBH met in Jan with some 300 backers/supporters among which include:
Nolan Ryan, Roger Staubach, Phil Graham, Dick Armey, Henry Bonilla, John Nau, Rod Paige, Pat Oxford, etc. Of course Perry has his backers/supporters also.

So yes the campaign between the Aggie Yell Leader and the Tea Sip Cheer Leader will be one to watch.
