Sessions: GOP Won't Block Vote on Sotomayor Nomination
The Washington Post ^ | July 16, 2009 | Robert Barnes, Amy Goldstein, and Paul Kane

Posted on 07/16/2009 1:40:15 PM PDT by EveningStar

Judge Sonia Sotomayor ended four days of testimony this afternoon with prospects of rapid confirmation to the Supreme Court improved, as a conservative Republican on the Senate Judiciary Committee edged toward endorsing her and the panel's ranking Republican said the GOP would not block a vote on her nomination.

Shortly before the committee concluded its questioning of Sotomayor, Sen. Jeff Sessions (R-Ala.), the panel's senior GOP member, told Sotomayor he would "look forward to you getting that vote" by the time the Senate takes its annual summer break, slated to begin Aug. 7.

WHAT THE F%$# IS WRONG WITH THESE PEOPLE???!!!!! You know what? I am boycotting anything and everything that I even think is related to a liberal cause. Call TODAY and cancel your papers, tell GM that they’ll never sell another car, turn off the TV, and DO NOT BUY from any advertiser that spends money with them! The GOP is pure s&%t!!!!

Respectfully, comrade... most of us here did these things months ago. Please hurry.

She’s replacing Souter. Her abusive nature and brutish stupidity couldn’t be worse than him.

I would vote against her for one reason. The current president voted against clearly qualified candidates for ideological reasons. Why not do the same to his nominees? And I would announce it loudly.

Odds are good Ruthy is going to poison her morning coffee first thing though.

Justice Ginsberg is very ill with cancer. Sotomayor II is coming very soon. Obama has the ability to destroy America through an activist court unlike anything we have seen in our history. This is why the GOP needed to fight. This is why the GOP are a bunch of socialist idiots (useful or actual).

The GOP set the bar really low for the next Obama nominee. This is a disaster. I'm done with the GOP. They have failed America. They have failed the people of this country and they have failed the world who used to look to us for freedom.

It is time to seriously consider secession before we are all enslaved by this socialist nightmare.

Gee. What’s the point of voting GOP again?

Are you nuts? WOW, what kind of conservative wouldn't want to watch their own party piddle away our rights and freedoms by playing the bi-partisan/PC game? /sarc

Of course, a second answer to your question would be...

So they can continue to be the sniveling, graveling, spineless cowards they are.

>>The GOP can’t stop the nomination

One of the indicators of character is how hard you fight, even when you know that you’re going to lose. The GOP is as good as dead. Libs won’t vote for them, no matter how far to the left they go and Conservatives are sickened by their weakness.

They have nothing to lose by fighting and everything to gain, but they’d rather “get along” with the party that is destroying America.

I can’t wait for that next phone call from them!

Here is what we do... all conservatives in Congress, GOP and Blue Dog should immediately form a Conservative Party and join the party while in office. Instantly, the new party has seats and the power to negotiate for conservative positions. This is how Israeli politics works. The conservative parties have huge power. Way beyond their numbers because they are the swing vote and they can and do effect change. This will free the conservatives from the pompous and worthless RINO leadership.

Dump the GOP and regroup. Hopefully, they can pick up a few conservative Dems and dump the liberal baggage.

Obama can replace all the Leftwingtards he wants on the court ~ provided the new ones are more ignorant, brutish and troubled than the ones they replace we don’t have a problem.

What, pray tell, is the difference? I'm tired of being lied to by GOP fundraisers who talk conservative and support these idiots. New conservative party and focus fundraising where it will make a difference. The GOP is a joke and its NOTY WORTH SUPPORTING FINANCIALLY

Gee. What's the point of voting GOP again?

There is none. It doesn't matter who is the President, as long as we have a spineless bunch of cowards in the House and the Senate, then We, The People are royally screwed.

Sessions is right. This isn't the one to go to the mattresses on. The balance of the court doesn't change with judge sonia vs judge souter, and like it or not, elections have consequences.

score some points, bloody her up a bit, and then spend time and effort opposing nationalization of healthcare, cap'n trade, and Porkulus 2.

:::sigh::: I guess these idiots can’t discern when someone is telling them what they want to hear rather than actually telling the truth.

we don’t have a problem.

Look at the ages of the justices! You need to rethink your position or, at least, learn about the power of the SCOTUS. Its not an even trade. Ginsberg is almost dead from cancer. We set a low benchmark for Sotomayor. The next nomination fight will happen within months. The Obama judges are YOUNG and will be on the court for decades. Conservative Judges are getting old and they won't be there as long. Read history...

The judges were the reason we were supposed to vote GOP.

I would expect that their responses would have been similar with a nominee brought forward by McCain. So, yes, if McCain would have gotten in, it likely would have made a difference in who was nominated to begin with.

I could care less about Ginsburg. If she dies while Obama is president he'll pick a different Leftwingtard. So what!

One leftwingtard replacing another leftwingtard doesn't mean a thing. They're all the same.

If you are concerned with longevity, we get enough control of Congress we can IMPEACH and REMOVE any judge we wish, so that's what we have to do.
