RIP GOP. It was great knowing you

Exactly. Every argument for voting for The GOP just went out the window. Their aren't opponents to Democrat excesses. They're enablers.

Sessions is a disappointment. I used to respect him a little but not now that he can’t even stand up to a racist quota queen.

That Sessions reeks of the “I too have been bought” smell of late.

Someone on another thread explained that she may not be as bad as many others Obama could name.

Yeah, I heard Bill Bennet say that on his show this morning. I thought, "Great! Now the GOP Elites are saying we're lucky he picked Sotomayor!" Oh, goody for us!

What use is there to block it? The rat’s have 60 votes anyway. I just want everyone of the Republicans vote No. Let it be partisan

I would vote against her for one reason. The current president voted against clearly qualified candidates for ideological reasons. Why not do the same to his nominees? And I would announce it loudly.

Exactly, Every Republican should vote against her

This isn't the one to go to the mattresses on.

If the GOP willfully allows a candidate who with so many disqualifying characteristics to be confirmed without opposition, it will find itself unable to go to the mattress in any situation where it might prevail.

Imagine a sports team whose first three opponents are so tough it has no realistic hope of victory. Should the team just roll over and play dead those first three games, or should it put forth a real effort? Some might argue that the players should save their strength, but I would posit that a team which rolls over and plays dead the first three games is going to be completely out of training by the time game four rolls around.

I dunno supercat. The whole thing is depressing.

I think we conservatives have some large battles ahead, and I would hate to waste time and money on this one.

Congress hopes to go into their August recess with the nationalized health-care bill in their pocket. Nearly 20% of the GDP grabbed up in one massive law.

To spend any more time on this judge seems like a poor allocation of resources to me.

They told us Ginzburg and Breyer were moderates too.

I understand your concern. God help us.

Sickening weak Repubs. Did Alito get this kind of respect? The woman is obviously an intellectual lightweight who lies to get past gullible gringos.

I swear. The GOP seem to be turning into the ‘LibDem’ party of the UK....and the rest of us are the ‘Torries’.

If Jesse Helms were still around, I think he could tie up the nomination for some time. He knew the rules and the ropes that his successors do not understand. But NC has gone on the dark side now too.

They are cowardly lions because of demographics and also because of a lack of personal spine. They are the Casper the Friendly Ghost Republicans looing for someone to say something nice about them.

Sessions used to own a bookstore that sold Confederate material. He is sensitive about liberals being mean to him. He may not really believe in anything but his being the senator from AL, which is moving left and may choose an Obama-style governor in 2010. Demographics mean a lot.

Unfortunately the term “one of the most conservative men in Washington” means little any more.

How much time and money should it have required for a Senator to ask Sotomayor what relation she has, if any, with La Raza, or what the name "La Raza" means?

You're right about that.
