Palin Is Wrong On Cap And Trade (Palin Watch ALERT)
Alaska Dispatch ^ | 7/15/09 | Lee Goodman

Posted on 07/16/2009 1:41:23 PM PDT by steve-b

Wow. In the editorial page of The Washington Post, our soon-to-be ex-governor just delivered a howler of a jeremiad: If President Obama's cap and trade proposal for carbon emissions becomes law, America will crumble.

Gov. Sarah Palin rolled out every device in the ultra-right arsenal of unsubstantiated declarations and sloppy logic. She shamelessly knits hysterical patriotism to a new energy-based species of Manifest Destiny. (We are ripe for economic growth and energy independence if we responsibly tap the resources that God created right underfoot on American soil). She touts the promise of the natural gas pipeline, conveniently leaving out the detail that she has quit this pet project of hers before really even starting it....

how come “(Palin Watch ALERT)” and not “(BARF ALERT)”?

Evidently, liberals feel more comfy with the former than they do the latter.

She doesn't mention alternative energy sources other than to dismiss them

Gosh, I can't find where Sarah dismisses alternate energy in her Op Ed piece.

She’s absolutely right! This country will fall! It is in the process of falling lest we rise up and prevent the take over of energy and healthcare! We have never been in a more precarious position as we are now! Our futures, our children’s future and their children’s future is in serious jeopardy!

knits hysterical patriotism to a

Once you use a term like hysterical patriotism you lose any pretense of being anything less then a shill for the Obamaites.

The greenies know that their pet energy sources cannot compete without mandates from the state,

so, being for proven energy sources is de facto being against “alternatives”.

I’d suggest those interested in “alternatives” work a little harder to make them competitive.

Wow.

comparing fossil fuel use to slavery— that’s a new one.

I thought Hansen’s holocaust analogy was a bit much

It matters not.

Once energy sources are competitive, the watermelon environmentalists “discover” that the energy source is dangerous.

This has happened with nuclear and hydroelectric. It will happen soon with wind if it continues to increase as a viable source.

The only prudent thing for humanity to do is bring capitalism to an end.

An "argumentum ad hominem" from our smarter, better educated, opened, logical and of course inclusive (and never divisive) friends on the left. /s

Honestly, the second paragraph would have been the envy of any Pravda writer back in the Cold War days.

Palin is a breath of fresh air over all the other GOP retreads. Romney, Gingrich, McCain, Huckabee....all global warming ideas to some degree. Palin has guts. Steve, you should respect her more. Who else is there?
