Bill O'Reilly: Newsweek seeks to marginalize Gov. Sarah Palin
The Ventura County Star ^ | July 18, 2009 | Bill O'Reilly

Posted on 07/18/2009 2:26:39 AM PDT by 2ndDivisionVet

About a month ago in this space, I told you that The New York Times had rigged a poll about Americans wanting to pay higher taxes to fund government-run healthcare.

The Times poll said 57 percent were willing to pay more tax; 37 percent were not willing to do so. But what The Times did not tell its readers was that 48 percent of those polled voted for Barack Obama. Just 25 percent supported John McCain.

So, of course, the poll results would skew left.

Now, we have another media deceit. In the most recent Newsweek magazine, there is a nasty hatchet job on Sarah Palin by a guy named Rick Perlstein.

The piece is presented as hard news, not an opinion column, and basically says that the governor is a moron who is supported by dimwitted conservatives at odds with smart Republicans. Perlstein also submits that the dumb GOP folks are led by me and other Fox News people.

Anyone reading the story would think that a Newsweek correspondent put it together. I mean, the magazine has a staff of trained journalists to do its reporting and analysis. But, Perlstein is not a Newsweek correspondent, and is identified only as an author at the end of the piece.

Very strange. It gets even more strange.

Turns out that Perlstein is a far-left zealot who blogs for a liberal site called “Campaign for America’s Future.” He lists one of his “interests” as “conservative failure.”

In 2007, Perlstein wrote: “I’ve just become a proud Fox [News] attacker. Now, you can too. It’s not a boycott. It’s simply calling advertisers and informing them what Fox says. Fox can’t survive that.”

So, Newsweek magazine hires a far-left loon to do a hit piece on Palin, conservatives, Fox News, and does not inform its readers about the loon’s dedicated point of view. Newsweek editor Jon Meacham basically tried to disguise an ideological attack as news coverage. Awful.

Newsweek magazine is in dire financial trouble and is seeking to survive by cultivating a liberal, urban audience. There is nothing wrong with that, as long as the editors are upfront about it. But this sneaky media stuff is harming America, and it must be unmasked.

With Obama in the White House, the country is facing profound change. America is already on the verge of bankruptcy and federal intrusion into private business, healthcare and the environment is unprecedented.

The far left is trying to create a huge federal apparatus that will promote income redistribution and “social justice.”

Also, the left sees a major opportunity to knock out Judeo-Christian traditions, replacing them with a secular philosophy.

In order to accomplish this, the left-wing media are marginalizing people like Palin who oppose the strategy. Under the guise of hard-news reporting, the media are pushing rank propaganda on the citizenry. Dr. Joseph Goebbels, the Nazi propaganda minister, successfully developed this tactic in the 1930s.

Americans need to wake up and smell the corruption. If crazy ideologues have infiltrated the news business, we need to know about it. And now you do.

Who reads Newsweek? They have themselves admitted that because less and less people buy them, they’ll have to focus only on a “small elite” of readers. LOL.

Oh now he comes out with this, now that the damage is already being done. If Bill would have spent more time reading FR rather than attacking it he would have known about all this stuff at least a year ago.

My guess..he did know and now he wants to kiss butt to bring the sheep back in line. Forget it.

Fox ought to retire “Ted Baxter” and give Glenn Beck that time slot.

All the insiders are desperate to marginalize her. They can’t seem to deal with the fact that her popularity keeps growing precisely because she isn’t one of them and won’t play by their rules.

Bill is a bi-Conservative.

He swings both ways so often he is hard to build trust in.

Bill watches the polls too and decides which side he is on by which way the polls swing.I believe O’Reilly is a clost liberal who makes his biggest bucks at playing at being Conservative.

You hit that one on the head! These elites have their heads so far up their butts that they've forgotten that the "people at large" can still think for themselves. What this means is all their attempted indoctrination has failed, and the easiest thing for them is to take out their bitter frustrations on Sarah Palin.

Newsweek doesn’t have to bother. The Republican party will do it for Newsweek.

Too bad BOR doesn't spend as much air time unmasking Obama as he does radical Newsweek "reporters".

He's always defending the Usurper, or cutting him slack on some issue or another.

I suggest O'Reilly use the time he devotes on each program shilling his book to an in-depth expose of the bold trash piece of humanity we have as president.

If Bill does that Obama will never come on his show and getting Obama on is Bill O’Reilly’s main goal.

One night, on the few I watch of Bill, he had one of the lady lawyers on with him, I can’t remember which one it was, and he says, “We do a Palin story last night and the ratings went through the roof, what is the deal?”

Bill, you are way below the curve, we get it, you don’t...........
