LOS ANGELES (Reuters) - "The Passion of the Christ" star James Caviezel suffered minor injuries while riding his motorcycle in Washington state when he struck a bicycle thrown by a pedestrian, authorities said on Friday.
Caviezel was driving his 2006 Harley-Davidson Thursday along a highway, when a man walking along the road threw a bicycle into the actor's path, said Richard Magnussen, a spokesman for the Washington State Patrol.
"There's no relationship between these guys at all, (Caviezel) just happened to be in the wrong place at the wrong time," Magnussen told Reuters.
Caviezel was unable to avoid the bicycle and when he struck it, he tumbled and suffered a cut to his hand and a bruise on his leg, authorities said. The bicycle got jammed between the front wheel and the engine of Caviezel's motorcycle.
The actor, who was born in Washington State but lives in Los Angeles, was taken to a hospital and released.
Before throwing the bicycle, the pedestrian was acting erratic, gesturing and pointing at the sky, Magnussen said. The man, David Nelson, 42, is expected to be charged with reckless endangerment, Magnussen said.

He currently stars in "The Stoning of Soraya M.," a movie about public stonings in Iran that was released in the United States last month They're not going to like him very much for that one, either.
Next thing they'll be throwing stones instead of bicycles.

Did his injuries heal in three days?

I’ve seen a commercial where a motorcyclist swerves to avoid a distracted driver, broken glass, and an animal. Something about “drive aware”. They did not have a pedestrian throwing a bike into the road though.

Anyone remember that beautiful anchoworman who played an Ann Coulter type character in a film & was brutally murdered shortly thereafter?
For some reason, as soon as I learned of this “accident” my first thought was of that woman & her death.

Yes, I do remember her, the story but not her name regrettably. I think she lived in Arkansas. I don’t recall a bicycle being involved, though, I think it was a break-and-enter.

Pedestrians do the darnedest things. One threw a metal folding chair at me while riding my motorcycle down the Harlem River Drive, a limited access highway. I was able to avoid it however.

Frequency is a great movie. Saw it a number of years ago and didn’t realize Caviezel was in it.

I wonder what model Harley? One of the bigger touring models would have simply flattened the bicycle and kept moving.
