Fantastic. This is exactly the kind of Conservative declaration we need.

I would add to dismantle any and every form of federal control, taxation, regulation etc. of the educational system, which would encourage individual states in the freedom to enact educational choice, with the intention that the government school system would eventually be disbanded, and at the least that the federal government would have absolutely no stake or control in it.

Until we stop BRAINWASHING our kids into communism in government schools, the upcoming generations will keep electing these kinds of people. Until we get education competitive and privatized, it will continue to be controlled and subverted by the NEA and the Communists who have infiltrated that organization.

I won't presume to speak for JimRob, or Jim Thompson, for that matter ;-), but the original idea was to have a bicameral legislature. The House, the “People's House,” has the most power (assuming you think that budget control is powerful) along with a few other goodies. It's purpose is simple: represent citizens in respective state districts. A central, all-powerful Fedzilla (HT: Nuge) was NEVER in the plan, but here we are. The Senate was to represent the States’ interests so a balance of power was maintained and Fedzilla is kept in check. Now we have elected ‘officials’ that ‘represent’ the citizens without the buffer of a representative republic. SO, now we get hammered with the tyranny of the takers. This is nowhere near a complete answer to your question, but I'm sure Freepers much smarter than I will fill in the blanks. HTH

Absolutely. There is nothing in the constitution authorizing federal involvement in education so it's left to the states:

The problem with bullet points is that they are too restrictive. What about the 243,687 other ways the government oversteps their bounds that are not listed. I think Jim has nailed the, one catch-all lament by citing the fact that the FedGov has as a matter of course, overstepped their constitutional constraints. THAT is what we are protesting. If more examples need to be cited that is fine, but I believe it would be better to focus the complaint on a single big ticket grievance.

I'm afraid my first impulse was to answer: Bring a whole lot of tar and feathers; enough for all the Congress critters and their lackey staff too!

Beyond that happy thought, I dunno. Meaningful change is highly unlikely.
