We need to organize Buses and group discounts for our cause, as well as set up travel funds for those with modest means...some conservatives are not wealthy, or even middle class
Even Hitler knew the power of people.
It cannot start at the top...a million man march in DC (went nowhere didn't it?).
Like Iran, it must gain momentum locally and supporters must see the local movement and be heartened by it.
It is a bonfire that must start small and be fed by the passion of believers.
A million man/woman march on DC without an agenda or momentum will go absolutely nowhere.
This cause is right. People are willing to march locally at first and, as momentum builds, regionally...then nationally. They are willing to die for this cause.
It must be peaceful and they must be willing martyrs.
They must die so freedom can live...and so that Obama is exposed for what he is!
But to start nationally is naive. The movement must gain momentum first...it must ferment and mature before it bursts on the national scene.
that’s me for sure.
yes I agree too.
Welcome to Free Republic!! You will LOVE it here.
What to do with a million people in Washington? You all could present the Congress with a the text of a bill that imposes real penalties on them whenever they introduce, vote for or pass unconstitutional legislation. Real penalties like fines that hurt and they have to pay, not their campaign chests, canceling of their health care, investment and pension plans paid for by the public, and named jail or prison times for the most egregious bills.
Then make them introduce that bill to Congress, vote for it and enact it.
We should also write a bill that authorizes a budget so that the new law is funded and can be exercised.
Finally bring sample legislation that revokes all the unconstitutional clearly Marxist government programs and executive branch appointees and bureaucrats. Make it a crime to appoint a ‘czar’ with a clear penalty for failing to obey.
That’s probably all you’ll have time for.
Well, it’s a damn good think I’m not advocating force, violence or an overthrow of the government then. Just stating my desire to see a return to constitutional government and discussing how that could be done within our first amendment rights to peaceable assembly and petition of grievances.
The day the government makes it illegal to print or to quote or refer to the Declaration of Independence or the Constitution or the founding of America is the day totalitarianism has completely arrived.
After my second pass, I was still excited about the concept and the possibilities but began to think about the details of implementing these actions and the possible consequences of such. (Yeah, yeah, we totally could do this. It could work if we did it peacefully and without violence. What about the half of the country that actually likes the government that is currently in place? Would they be willing to recognize as legitimate a new form of government? Given the chance to elect new government representatives would they elect representatives of the same character and mentality of those currently serving? Would we be right back where we started with an evenly divided set of government representatives?)
After my third pass, the excitement had worn off and reality began to sink in. Questions lingered. (Hey, wait a minute. What if the elected officials currently in place refused to go? What if half the country refused to recognize a new government and therefore refused to participate in electing new representation for themselves. Wouldn't they see the new government as not representative of their own rights to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness? Would they feel forced to take action as we did? Would they do so peacefully or violently?)
After my fourth pass, complete and utter dread set in. (Oh no, there is no chance at a peaceful reformation and resolution with half of the country. There would be terrible violence and bloodshed. The entire country would shut down upon itself.)
After my fifth pass, I began to negotiate with myself and offer compromises within the current system that didn't lead to total chaos and bloodshed the likes of which we've not seen and could not imagine. (If the problem is that two halves of the country have completely different mindsets, ideas, and values, would we be more successful integrating change within the current system so as not to alienate half the country and instigate violence on their part? How could we do that? Could we some mandate that the new session of Congress after the 2010 elections immediately address our primary concerns as their first order of business and forbid them to take any other actions, pass any other laws? How could we do that?)
After my sixth pass, I'm left feeling that the only avenue to successful (and peaceful) change, reformation, and reduction of the current system of government will only be possible within the framework of the system in place today.
I'm going to read it again. Did you consider any of these scenarios in your head? Did you ask yourself any of these questions? Did you come to the conclusion that peaceful, nonviolent change could be successfully implemented? If so, how did you reach that conclusion? I need to understand that thought process. (It's an honest, sincere question and is absolutely not intended to be sarcastic or antagonistic in any way.)

I’m in. If this be treason, let us make the most of it.
Same with welfare.
A girl can dream.....
“A Constitution is a thing antecedent to a Government, and a Government is only the creature of a Constitution. The Constitution of a country is not the act of a Government, but of the people constituting a Government. It is the body of elements, to which you can refer, and quote article by article, and which contains the principles on which the Government shall be established. Then manner in which it shall be organized, the powers it shall have, the mode of elections, the duration of Parliments, or by what other name such bodies may be called, the powers which the executive part of the Government shall have, and in fine, everything that relates to the compled organization of a civil Government, and the principles on which it shall act, and by which it shall be bound. ...the Government is in like manner governed by the Constitution.” Rights of Man, by Thomas Paine
The Looters, who have seized the citadel of our nation, each pledge to honor and defend our constitution. They have failed to fulfill that pledge of office. Without a Constitution we have no law, no civil government, and no security in our inalienable rights to Life, Liberty, and the Pursuit of Happiness.
We should perhaps recall the words of Sam Adams, on the eve of the Minute Men gathering on the green at Lexington, “If ye be men, take up your arms and arrest the King’s officers.”
The question we must each answer, for ourselves, in the near future is, “Are we the men our forefathers were?”

No flame here-
You show good sense my Liberty Loving friend. A cloud of tear gas and a panicked crowd is no place for a child or even a semi-invalid.
Please read through the comments... To DC we go....
No problem with that...which is why we need at least a million people in D.C. September 10-12. And those who cannot make it to D.C. need to march on their state capitol or the nearest major city. It needs to be countrywide so we make it very clear that we hate what these idiots are doing to our country.
We don’t want to overthrow our government, we want to get it back to it’s original state.
is this not endorsing the overthrow of the present administration ?
by whatever means possible ?
and is not the actual intent of the second amendment "right to keep and bear arms" written law in order to secure this ability to overthrow such a rogue government as the Obama Administration ?
because the founders knew this was bound to happen and that "peaceful means" would be futile ?
The system in place today is corrupt. Think ACORN. How will we ever have a valid vote again?
So what? Our spiritual forebears were called traitors and rabble by King George and his bullies.
