Note to Church: Pray Dirty Harry Prayers for Our Nation

Many of my readers and listeners are beyond feeling “concerned” about our Obama-driven nation. I’d say they’re angry. Not only are they ticked, but they also feel helpless, ignored and betrayed by their elected GOP pansies. This, obviously, adds to their angst. Some of my more genteel readers and listeners are even starting to mutter mild curse words under their breath as they watch things on TV get bleaker by the moment. I’m sorry . . . I mean by the second.

One of the positive things that has come about by beholding this American socialistic meltdown has been the passive members of our party becoming more active in keeping up with how our politicos are gang raping us while telling us we should be thanking them and that pillaging our country is good for us. Glad to see you boys finally woke the heck up.

Also, timid and sweet traditional value voters are not—not—talking about religion and politics any longer. Oh no, they’re finally entering the verbal fray and starting to flap as they watch the USA morph into the USSA.

Yep, not only are more conservatives and Christians investigating the most nefarious group of leaders our GP has ever elected, they are finally verbal with their disdain for Obama’s, Pelosi’s and Reid’s expensive and disastrous crack pipe dreams (family reunions will never be the same). But they’re showing up, by the hundreds of thousands, at Tea Party protests! Well yippee ki-yay! Now, it’s getting interesting. Oh, I almost forgot: These conservatives have also bought more guns in the last four months than they ever had in the last forty years. God, I love it. I’ll have an S&W model 29 with a side order of 300gr. Hollow points, please.

However, the freshly alert and active amongst us still feel very vulnerable and are not digging the thought of their kids, grandkids, or themselves being on the receiving end of an Obama America. They like the old and superior Superbad America that’s free, militarily strong, economically viable and at least semi-morally upright—not this rat cage, socialistic, Czar-laden, left of left, Tila Tequila, Liberals Gone Wild swill we’re being Jim Jones’d into swallowing by Washingtonians who do not give a rat’s backside regarding our nation’s original intent. So, these newly awakened conservatives sit and yell at the TV as they watch the Obama gang dismantle America while their BS detectors ping more than the metal detectors at Islamabad International Airport.

Now, before you compadres bust a vein in your foreheads, let me help you out with a little Christianity Doug Giles style. To assist you in your efforts to change this SNAFUed situation, you must add to your repertoire of petitions you offer up to God Almighty what I like to call Dirty Harry prayers: radical prayers against the radically unrighteous direction our nation is headed. You heard me right. I said pray against this fetid mess.

Most good Christian folks only pray “for” stuff. For example, most believers’ entreaties are for a new car, a nice house, high test scores in school, healing for a sick loved one, or that God will never allow them to become Leif Garrett. That’s pretty much the now-I-lay-me-down-to-sleep extent of most Christians’ cries to God.

The believer, however, has an insanely powerful arsenal of divinely-inspired dynamite to utilize against unrighteousness and those who propagate it. Yep, Dinky, it’s a prayer against both sin and sinner—the problem and its perpetrator. Theologians call these the imprecatory prayers, or maledictions. I call them Dirty Harry prayers, prayers to pull out and pray when things get bad. Real bad. Prayers you use when a nation’s getting mucked up by degenerate priests or politicos.

Who in the Scripture volleyed these Holy Spirit inspired invectives toward people and places? Well, guys like Moses, Joshua, David, Jeremiah, Ezekiel, Paul and uh . . . let’s see . . . there was someone else. Oh! I remember . . . Jesus. Yep, the Prince of Peace prayed some not-so-nice prayers against a gaggle of corrupt critters who were a hindrance to life and truth on His planet.

King David, however, at least from a recorded standpoint, was the king of incendiary intercession. This giant killer shook more Goliaths in his prayers and songs than he ever did with a rock and slingshot. Here’s a sample list of how David rolled in prayer: Psalms 5, 7, 9, 10, 17, 25, 28, 31, 35, 40, 41, 54, 55, 56, 58, 59, 63, 68, 69, 70, 71, 74, 79, 83, 94, 104, and 109. I bet you haven’t heard these read or prayed in church against our nation’s corruption, have you? I didn’t think so. It might be time to dust them off and offer ‘em up if you’re truly concerned about the state of our union.

I've been praying that Obama will have the experiences he needs to soften his heart enough so that he can make it back to heaven. This is a rather mean spirited prayer since experiences like this are likely going to be very unpleasant. ( I also pray the same prayer for myself.)

I have also been praying daily that honest and capable leaders will arise who will defend the Constitution. I expected burly men, but instead they seem to be little ladies like Orly Taitz and Sarah Palin.

Or....How about this little firecracker of a lady in Delaware at Representative Mike Castle's town meeting. Wow!

Here’s the first one:

Psalm 5 (New International Version)

Psalm 5
For the director of music. For flutes. A psalm of David.
1 Give ear to my words, O LORD,
consider my sighing.

2 Listen to my cry for help,
my King and my God,
for to you I pray.

3 In the morning, O LORD, you hear my voice;
in the morning I lay my requests before you
and wait in expectation.

4 You are not a God who takes pleasure in evil;
with you the wicked cannot dwell.

5 The arrogant cannot stand in your presence;
you hate all who do wrong.

6 You destroy those who tell lies;
bloodthirsty and deceitful men
the LORD abhors.

7 But I, by your great mercy,
will come into your house;
in reverence will I bow down
toward your holy temple.

8 Lead me, O LORD, in your righteousness
because of my enemies—
make straight your way before me.

9 Not a word from their mouth can be trusted;
their heart is filled with destruction.
Their throat is an open grave;
with their tongue they speak deceit.

10 Declare them guilty, O God!
Let their intrigues be their downfall.
Banish them for their many sins,
for they have rebelled against you.

11 But let all who take refuge in you be glad;
let them ever sing for joy.
Spread your protection over them,
that those who love your name may rejoice in you.

12 For surely, O LORD, you bless the righteous;
you surround them with your favor as with a shield.

Psalm 10 seems particularly appropriate for these times:
