I guess he’ll become a Sunni now, or maybe a Persian Shia.

I don’t believe anything he says and distrust anything that motivates him. However, for what it is worth, if I went to a church like that then I’d leave it to.

the former president called the decision "unavoidable" after church leaders prohibited women from being ordained and insisted women be "subservient to their husbands." I thought it was bad when this evil little troll took out on President Bush but now he's gone after St. Paul! His arrogance has no bounds.

He is TOTALLY distorting the statement about women submitting themselves to the husbands.
Of course, that’s what those of a worldly worldview do - follow the techniques and practices of their father, the devil (John 8:42-47)

I guess he missed the part about husbands loving their wives as Christ loves the Church (self sacrificial love)
I’m glad I just have the submit part!
(and no I’m not a Baptist, but the scripture says what it says)

Either these guys are REALLY late to the fair, or Jimmuh is just trying to get some publicity.
He left the Southern Baptists at least two years ago, probably more. It was all over the papers here.
This is like a third-hand article from some feminist blog. Maybe they JUST heard about it . . . .

The Bible does speak of wives subservience to husbands — but I fail to see how that is equivalent to all women being subserviant to all men. I also fail to see how that excuses slavery, rape, mutiliation, etc. ...
Carter distorts the position of the SBC, then leaves based on the distortion?

At its most repugnant, the belief that women must be subjugated to the wishes of men excuses slavery, violence, forced prostitution, genital mutilation and national laws that omit rape as a crime. But it also costs many millions of girls and women control over their own bodies and lives, and continues to deny them fair access to education, health, employment and influence within their own communities. This could only come from someone who has absolutely no understanding of the Bible.
