FReeper Call to Action: We are joining the 09.12.09 March on Washington!
09.12.09 March on Washington ^ | July 20, 2009 | Jim Robinson

Edited on 07/21/2009 4:52:32 AM PDT by Jim Robinson. [history]

Free Republic is a co-sponsor of the 9-12 March on DC. We are not the organizer. There are several grassroots organizations involved. We're just one of the co-sponsoring organizations.

Like the thousands of protests our FReepers have organized, co-sponsored, or attended in the past, it is a peaceful protest. There has never been any violence at any of our protests. Ever! And NONE of them ever have been armed protests. Neither is this one. No arms. No violence.

And no we are not taking over the government. We're simply exercising our first amendment rights to peaceful assembly and to petition the government for redress of grievances.

Among other things, we are protesting the government's alarming slide into socialism, Marxism, fascism.

We are protesting the government using hundreds of billions of our tax dollars to bail out or take over banks, financial companies, insurance companies, car companies, or any other private enterprise.

We are protesting the government spending trillions of our tax dollars on ill advised and ineffective stimulus packages.

We are protesting the government raising taxes on energy which will raise the costs of every product and service manufactured or delivered in America. Costs will soar for every product or service sold to every consumer, even on the most basic and required goods and services. This is a huge disguised tax increase on ALL Americans!

We are protesting the government's foolish and admitted attempt to bankrupt the electricity, oil, gas and coal producing industries. This is absolute madness! Our country, our industrial might, our military might, our businesses, our households, all Americans depend on electricity, oil, gas and coal for fuel, heating, manufacturing, transportation, national defense. Crippling these core industries would bring America to her knees and bring about the greatest depression this world has ever known.

We are protesting against the introduction of government provided health care or health insurance. Health care is a private issue. We do not want government bureaucrats making our health care decisions for us. We do not want government workers deciding who is worthy of health care and who is allowed to die, or even encouraged to die.

Health care is a private enterprise and should remain as such, other than possibly local clinics and assistance to the poor and truly needy. There is no constitutional provision for a federal health care system. We are still a free country and would like to remain a free country.

We are protesting against all of these foolish, expensive, unconstitutional and unnecessary socialist/fascist policies and acts that are driving up our costs, driving up our taxes, driving up our debt, driving up unemployment, crippling our economy and weakening our nation.

If you think government is too big, too expensive, too much into socialism, Marxism, fascism, etc, and too far out of control and acting beyond its lawful constitutional limits and would like to loudly say enough is enough, then please join us in D.C. on September 10 through September 12.

Free Republic National Convention!

And now for something completely separate and independent of the above National Tea Party protest. Some of us on Free Republic thought that this might be an ideal opportunity to hold a national convention for FReepers and friends. We don't have a large number of FReepers gathering in DC very often. Seeing as how we're going to be there for the National Tea Party Protest anyway, how about if we also get together at a single hotel so we can meet and greet, dine and break bread together?

So we selected a hotel that had enough rooms and a large enough banquet and ballroom facility to handle our large group. And we negotiated a rate for the rooms and banquets so that the total cost for the rooms plus the banquet dinner and brunch events would not be that much more than what it would have cost for the rooms and meals only if each person had to book with the hotel at the regular non-discounted individual rates. Yes, the tickets are a bit on the expensive side, but then a facility that can hold a nice banquet dinner of 400-600 people, plus other extras costs quite a bit and we had to commit to a certain number of attendees and a cost per person.

We also wanted to make sure it was a nice event. A tent on the mall with hamburgers and hotdogs did not seem appropriate.

We also wanted to attract some nationally known and well-respected conservative speakers. That means we must have an attractive and secure venue. So, we have what we have. And I think it's doable for most folks that can make their way to D.C.

Again, this national Freeper convention is separate from the National Tea Party Protest and in no way should detract from that great event. Even if you can't attend our convention, please try to make it to the Tea Party Protest in D.C. Our Liberty depends on it!

Click here for Convention tickets and here to reserve your room at the Sheraton!

Rebellion is brewing!

DONT TREAD ON ME!!

See you there!

Mores the pity when we American men have moved from give me liberty or give me death...

Speak for yourself.

The war had started in earnest when Patrick Henry made his famous speech.

Will you still be complaining when they come for you or will you stand up and fight with the rest of us that are even now engaging the enemy in the way it must be done at this particular time?

You may have moved away from engaging the enemy early but have no doubt, American MEN have.

Make it 10,001. I registered myself but didn’t register Sheila, but she’s going to be there shaking her fist and stomping her feet with all her might. She thinks Obama is bringing down America. And I tend to agree with her.

Oops, better make it 10,002. I also did not register my son Chris who will be there lending his voice too.

And I bet there are others who are planning on attending who have not registered. Registration is not required.

Now is the time to act—Things are going to get worse between now and September. We must show with a massive march, a petition, and unity of peoples and groups. All races, all types and all backgrounds. The really rich and the really poor. Let people and groups who dislike one another unite and be there. I would love to see Black Baptist Church men and robed KKK members locking arms and singing God Bless America before the Capital building! Today, we are one people demanding good government.

Like some freeper said on another thread, he or she can’t afford to go to DC twice. It’s now or never. We don’t and won’t get attention by holding a kumbaya march and ask permission to see our representatives. Obama and his minions will sit back, probably play golf that weekend and then news media will barely cover it at all. However, FR isn’t the only group going and not everyone will be protesting with the same tactics. It could get interesting.

Speak for yourself.

I am speaking for myself.

the rest of us that are even now engaging the enemy in the way it must be done at this particular time?

You are wrong to postulate that statement as fact, when it is, in fact, simply your opinion. Get over yourself and your own big head.

You may have moved away from engaging the enemy early but have no doubt, American MEN have.

Sorry, but I do have such doubt. - and I am not alone.

I’m not actually accusing the president of being a paper hanger.

Lol! Thank you for your post, Jim.

Yes, I remember how well the last trip worked out on the stimulus bill.

I've never sat anything out, though you may not know that about me. I've never advocated doing nothing. I'm advocating organizing for impact, rather than for media attention. I'm advocating thinking differently.

Have a great time.

Speak for yourself.

I am speaking for myself.

Your post I quoted says different.

You are wrong to postulate that statement as fact, when it is, in fact, simply your opinion. Get over yourself and your own big head.

OK, pay no attention to what is happening.

Sorry, but I do have such doubt. - and I am not alone.

Well you are in good company. So did Thomas.

Got any suggestions as to what to do to keep our country from being usurped by the Marxist/Leftists in power and supported by the MSM?

I doubt it.

OK, you got me buying into doubt.

"There is no constitutional provision for a federal health care system."

I was debating a libtard on another site, and this guy actually thinks that because it says "general welfare" in Article I, Section 8, it means taking the fruits of labor from the haves, and giving it all to the have nots. But then again the guy thinks that dennis kucinich, john conyers and bernie sanders are more reasonable than even ron paul.

Has anyone ever calculated a trend in registrations as dates near? I imagine it accelerates.

I’m showing up...with an Iranian flag.

The Iranian people’s struggle for freedom ought to be front-and-center for all of us Americans.

If ObamaCare and Cap and Trade both get passed, we might as well as revolt. The time is approaching closely and we need to make proper preparations for such action that may be necessary in order to achieve our strategic goals.

That’s nice. The Left will be so pleased to see us staying in our box like this. I think they’re enjoying our polite restraint....it’s so easy for them to ignore. After all, 9/12 is a Saturday and they’ll just leave town - knowing the media will give it cursory treatment anyway.
