The U.S. Secret Service delivered a federal search warrant at the home of a Kent State University professor Tuesday morning as part of an ongoing investigation.
Kent police assisted in serving the warrant at the Morris Road home of Julio C. Pino.
Neighbors saw several cars and law enforcement agents at Pinos home shortly before 10 a.m. Tuesday.
David Lee, a spokesman for the Secret Services Akron Bureau, declined to discuss what Secret Service agents were looking for at Pinos home.
We have an ongoing investigation which involves (Pino), but since it has an ongoing status we cannot pass on any information at this time, Lee said.
Pino is an associate professor of history, specializing in Latin American History.
Tom Neumann, a university spokesman, said Pino, a tenured professor, is teaching one Latin-themed summer course. He said the university was unaware of the warrant served Tuesday and made no official statement.
Kent Police Chief James Peach said his department was not in a position to release much information.
We were asked by them to assist them on the search warrant, which we were glad to comply with, Peach said.
According to the KSU History Department Web site, some of Pinos current courses include Comparative Latin American Revolutions, Afro-Latin America and History of Women in Latin America.
In 2007, Pino was accused by a conservative Web site of being the author of an anti-American Web site that claimed to support global terrorism.
Authorities would not say Tuesday if the search warrant was related to Pinos alleged involvement with the site.
In a blog posted at www.Townhall.com, self-described conservative Mike S. Adams, a criminology professor at the University of North Carolina-Wilmington, claimed Pino, a Muslim, operated a blog called Global War at global-war.bloghi.com. The Global War blog claims to be a jihadist news service providing battle dispatches (sic), training manuals, and jihad videos to our brothers worldwide.
Dr. John Jameson, who chaired the universitys history department in 2007, told the Record-Courier in 2007 that Pino told him he had contributed news stories to the Web site.
Yes, he told me that, Jameson said. Keep in mind the source of this is Adams blog.
At the time of the accusations, Pino would neither confirm nor deny any connection with the Web site, telling KSUs student newspaper that The Web site is not the issue freedom of speech is the issue.
Pino could not be reached for comment Tuesday.
A woman who answered the phone at Pinos home and identified herself as his wife said Tuesday afternoon he was not available for comment, but would not do so even if he were.
Everythings fine here, the woman said. You dont need to be worried about anything going on here.
The clerks office for the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Ohio in Akron had no warrants on file concerning Pino, according to an employee in the clerks office.
The Secret Service, headquartered in Washington, D.C., was established in 1865 solely to suppress the counterfeiting of U.S. currency. Today, the agency is mandated by Congress to carry out dual missions: protection of national and visiting foreign leaders, and criminal investigations, according to its Web site.

“An Open Letter to John Kasich”
by Mike Adams
SNIPPPET: “The previous administration took domestic terror threats much more seriously. I know that because I reported one Ohio terrorist, Professor Julio Pino of Kent State, to the feds back in 2007. When I produced evidence that he had posted bomb-making instructions on a terrorist website - along with pleas to use the bombs against American troops the feds met with me in Wilmington. The evidence suggests he posted to the website from his state-owned computer.
While Pino was under the watchful eye of the feds his department chairman at Kent State allowed Pino to travel to the Middle East without proper authorization. As a result, the chairman was fired. Pino remained fairly low key for the rest of the Bush administration.
But, now that Obama is in power, Pino knows he will never be prosecuted by the feds. This is in spite of the fact that he has terrorist connections and has openly called for the murder of our troops and the mass-murder of Jews. The following is an email Pino sent to me earlier this week via his Kent State email account:”

“Professor at Kent State University running Jihad web site”
stepping back in time...

Interesting.
Finally.

Well, it may be a common name but the Prof's full name is indeed Julio Cesar Pino.
From the CV in KSU faculty directory:
June 1987-Sept. 1987 Teaching Associate, UCLA Department of History
This timeline is consistent with the perp's out-of-state address (in the Los Angeles area). Crime date is listed as 6/6/87.
Hmmm, maybe he’s not registering like he should. Wouldn’t it be nice to see this scumbag hauled off in cuffs for breaking parole.
I bet he became a Black Muslim in jail.
Sounds like a wise Latino to me.
Does anyone else ever daydream about what favors they might perform for their country if they were dying of cancer?

“Secret Service Raids Professor - Blog This!”

SNIPPET: “Last week, I wrote an open letter to John Kasich, pleading with him to do something about a mentally unstable Jihadist professor at Kent State University. The professor has been linked to terrorist activity such as posting bomb-making instructions on a terrorist website. Hes also posted pleas to use the bombs against American troops. And Ive amassed evidence that he contributed to that terrorist website using his Kent State University computer.
Nonetheless, the professor who should already have been water-boarded, tried, and sentenced continued to taunt me after the article ran last Friday. In fact, on Saturday, he sent me the following email again using his Kent State University computer:
From: jpino@kent.edu
Sent: Sat 7/18/09 9:40 PM
To: adams_mike@hotmail.com
The American soldier who went missing June 30 from his base in eastern Afghanistan and was later confirmed to have been captured, appeared on a video posted Saturday to a Web site by the Taliban The soldier is shown in the 28- minute video with his head shaved and the start of a beard. He is sitting and dressed in a nondescript, gray outfit. Early in the video one of his captors holds the soldier’s dog tag up to the camera. His name and ID number are clearly visible. He is shown eating at one point and sitting on a bed
The soldier said the date is July 14. He says he was captured when he lagged behind on a patrol. He is interviewed in English by his captors, and he is asked his views on the war, which he calls extremely hard, his desire to learn more about Islam and the morale of American soldiers, which he said was low.
Pinos email was tame compared to others hes sent to me. But the one he sent to me before that warned President Obama that he would soon need some more coffins sent to the White House. So I published the email in its entirety in my letter to Kasich. And the Secret Service raided Pinos home four days later.”
